Collins Cagers Look Impressive In Beating Dundee And Grant Boys by Fred Kusoh Coach Gary Collins Cagers made it 4 in a row as they won two impressive victories this past weekend over Dundee 58- 45 and Grant 61-35. In Friday night's contest held at West campus the young Warriors came from behind to win by 13 points. After a rather sloppy first half the Warriors showed the crowd some fine basketball. The Warriors were led by an outstanding performance by Roger Wanta who scored 22 points and played an out standing defensive ball game. Ed Choate contributed 11 points and was outstanding as he controlled the boards with 17 rebounds. Bud Pflug did a fine job at the guard position as he directed the offensive and defensive efforts. On Saturday night the Warriors proved to be too much to handle as they crushed the Grant Bulldogs 61-35. Dan Camasta and Ben Himplemann SCENIC RIVERS . Scenic Rivers legislation will be reintroduced when the Legislature convenes in January, Henry N. Barkhausen, director of the Department of Conservation, said this week. The bill (HB2659) was approved by the House 145-21 but did not reach (he Senate floor this session. Thirteen rivers in the state would be protected from in discriminate forest clearing, channelization, mining operations which destroy river banks, dumps and unsightly commercial and residential developments, Barkhausen said. IIS led the Warriors in the victory effort as they scored 17 and 22 points respectively. I know we all were disappointed when the snow storm missed us by only a few miles. Up to last weekend there was good snowmobiling in Lake Geneva. Kettle Morine South in Wisconsin and in Hebron. Mr. Harry Mueller of McHenry. the secretary of the lar Pairs Snowmobile Club ichmond sent me a letter ining their upcoming h Annual Snowmobile . Knowing it would be of st to many snowmobilers his letter reads as follows: Sunday, January 9, 1972, will mark the Fourth Annual Snowmobile Derby sponsored by the Polar Pairs Snowmobile Club, at Rudolph's Breezy Lawn Farm, Spring Grove, Illinois. This year's derby will again feature a 1'2 mile Grand Prix Course, that shouldprove a most interesting challenge to all drivers. The Junior and Powder Puff classes will bring the spectators to a peak of anticipation, that will be highlighted by the Stock and Modified classes, which have in the last three years brought on and challenged some of the finest machines and drivers from a four state area. Drivers will run two laps in each class entered. The course layout is ideally suited for spectator viewing. The spec tators will be able to see all the action as it happens, which in itself should add excitement as they cheer for their favorite machine or driver. This year's derby, will, as in past years, follow all the rules and regulations of the United States Snowmobile Association. Entry deadline for all classes will be at 9:30 a.m. sharp, followed by a drivers' briefing, with races slated to start at 10 a.m . so that ample time may be allowed to run all events. There will be ample parking facilities for all contestants and spectators. Food concessions and wash room facilities will also be available for all in at tendance. Breezy Lawn farm is located on Route 173, four miles east of Richmond, Illinois and seven miles west of Antioch, Illinois.
