This is an excellent op portunity for those interested in teaching courses in the coming year to receive the necessary training. These instructors' courses are not offered often, so interested persons are en couraged to take advantage of this free opportunity. The need for safe handling of herbicides and other pesticides continues even after you've put your applicator away for the season. Proper storage of unused pesticides is essential to prevent accidents. Consider the following points for the best way to store those left over pesticides to ensure safety: 1 - Store the pesticides where children, pets, and farm animals can't get at them. 2. - Don't store herbicides close to food, feed, fertilizer or other chemicals such as in secticides. 3 - Always store pesticides in their original containers. 4 - Never store pesticides in soft drink bottles, peanut butter jars or similar containers that children might mistake for something to eat or drink. 5 - Store liquid pesticides at above-freezing temperatures so containers don't break. When ordering your pesticides for next year, try to estimate your needs closely enough to avoid carry-over. Ephraim Brasher; a New York goldsmith, who lived next door to George Washington, struck a gold piece in 1787. It turned out to be the most famous piece brought out be fore the establishment of the mint at Philadelphia. The Brasher doubloon weighed 408 grains, was equivalent to a Spajjish doubloon and was worth $16.00. Today an original Brasher Doubloon has been insured for $100,000.00.
