PLAINDEALER PHOTO Eighth Annual Teen-Age Miss Pageant Announced The eighth annual Miss Illinois Teen-Ager pageant will be held at the Holiday Inn-South Harvey Aug.4-5. Allgirls 13-17 are eligible to enter if between these ages and are citizens of the United States and residents of Illinois. Judging is based on scholastic achievements, civic con­ tributions, poise, personality, and appearance. There is no talent or bathing suit com­ petition. The pageant is recognized nation-wide by civic, educational and political leaders as an outstanding, worthwhile pageant for teen­ agers. Winner from Illinois currently is Miss Ann Bossingham of LeRoy. Past winners include Isabelle Haines from Mundelein, 1965; Melinda Lewis from Belvidere, 1966; Cynthia Smith of Rock- ford, 1967; Colleen Peterson of Rock City, 1967; Gail Van Dee of Chicago, 1969; Pauletta Audas of Oak Forest, 1970; and Ann Bossingham of LeRoy, 1971. The public is invited to join the Stoffels in observing their golden wedding anniversary. George Stoffel and Margaret Miller, former McHenry residents, were married in Chicago Dec. 27, 1921, and have lived in Woodstock most of their married life. The Stoffels have two daughters, Rosemary and Betty, and six grandchildren. The Stoffels managed the Piggly Wiggly store in Woodstock for a number of years. Cranberry Punch 1 qt. cranberry juice 2 c. water Simple syrup lYi T. lemon juice 1 c. orange juice 1 qt. ginger ale Sweeten cranberry juice with simple syrup to taste. Chill. Add orange juice and lemon juice. Just before serving add ginger ale. Cranberry Relish 1 q* ranberries 1 large orange 4 medium sized tart apples 4 c. sugar Grind raw cranberries, unpeeled orange and apples through a fine food grinder. Mix well with sugar and allow to stand 24 hours be­ fore using. This will keep for some time in the refrig­ erator. Local Couple Wed 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Potter of 607 N. Green street, McHenry, formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, were honored at a reception on the occasion of their gGlden wedding anniversary. Open house was held from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Elks club in Muscatine, attended by many relatives and friends. Minnie Danz and Vernie Potter were married Dec. 20, 1921, at the home of the bride's parent in Muscatine. Rev. W.H. Rogers of the First Baptist church officiated. Attending the couple were Faye Frizzel and Esther Danz (now Mrs. Faye Frizzel). The Potters are the parents of three children, Richard Potter of Guthrie, Ky., Robert Potter of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. William (Renata) Chin of Muscatine, Iowa. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Potters have lived in McHenry for six years. Mr. Potter retired in 1969 from the Admiral Corp.
