"Stop Wasting Your Own Money", Drivers Admonished "Let's try it again", Secretary of State John W. Lewis said this week. "Please stop wasting your own money." His remark was directed primarily to drivers who fail to show their Social Security number on their drivers license renewal applications. Despite previous efforts to alert drivers to the Social Security number requirement, over a six-month period more than 46,000 applications had to be returned -- about 350 a day -- 90 percent of them because the Social Security number had been omitted, Secretary Lewis said. Taking such factors as postage, processing time and printing into consideration, this represents about $6,500 Illinois taxpayers spent needlessly, he added. Other reasons why ap plications have to be returned include failure to sign the application, failure to answer all questions and failure to include parental consent for minors. Secretary Lewis urged drivers to spend an extra minute, in stead of their money, to make sure the application is properly completed. IT'S WORTH THINKING ABOUT,.. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations progress through the sequence: * - From bondage to Spiritual Faith - From Spiritual Faith to great courage - From great courage to liberty - From liberty to abundance - From abundance to selfishness - From selfishness to com placency - From complacency to apathy 0 * - From apathy to dependence - From dependence back into bondage. In 6 years the United States ; will be 200 years old. The cycle' is not inevitable. > It all depends on you . . . * Special Holiday Panel Selection From 9 9 * 9 9 I TRUE HARDWOOD VENEERS!!
