But he didn't mind, or seemed even to know That on that night, that a Saviour was born. The shepherds that tended their flock on the hill Felt and knew of the strangness that night. As they followed a Star that beckoned them With a mystic holy light. They followed its course into Bethlehem Past the City and onto a hill. _ And they came to a manger filled with straw Where a little babe lay so still. He nestled close in Mary's arms She whispered and sang to him low. As she lifted to heaven, up her eyes Toward the East was strangely a glow. (A Star appeared as tho a jewel.) It was there for all to see. And slowly it crossed until it shone On a mother on bended knee. Milling about were the sheep and the lambs As the night, it wore silently on. and the Star that shown over Bethlehem Was the light when our Saviour was born. Tis the Light of the world, Star of the East A Pledge and Promise fulfold. It lit the path of the Three Wise Men That came laden with chests of gold. Mary held him aloft, for all to see. As the angels burst forth in song. Singing "JOY TO THE WORLD" for unto you On this night has a Saviour been born. Born to the world a King of Kings An Angel in disguise. And the three that came from far away Nodded their heads so wise Peace on Earth, Good Will towards all men Was the message, they came to say. As they laid at his feet, the gifts they had brought And silently stole away. To the^^0"tney turned their faces toward home, The Star still continued to shine. As it lit up the heavens with glory Down through the ages of Time. Participating in thi festivities were the student^ and their families, and also the faculty and staff of ABE. Adulti Basic Education teaches English as a secomj. language and is administered at MCC by Dr. Marvin Liesk^ Dean of Instruction. Dr. and Mrs. Lieske also attended the party, along with Assistant Dean of Instruction Brian Koleto and his wife. Mrs. Yolanda Roses Lopefc ABE coordinator, planned and organized the "fiesta." She said however, "It would not have been possible without the help and cooperation of th$ students, staff and faculty." > Mrs. Lopez added that ev^o more remarkable was thfc cooperation of some MCf students who volunteered thejr help when they saw how muefc work was required to complete the preparations for the party Assisting in making pinatas and wrapping small gifts for the children were Shari Wajrowski, Crystal Lake; Beii Nurya, Indonesian student living in Crystal Lake; Robett Barros, Crystal Lake; Barbara Claxton, Cary; and Pat Arcurf (a former student), Crystarl Lake. \ Also assisting with preparations were Miss Christine Carpenter, a teacher in the ABE program and Graciela Arellano, ABE secretary. According to Mrs. Lopez, these people not only helped prepare for the party, but they also attended and participated in the festivities and assisted in serving the buffet supper and in seeing that the children were entertained. Included in the en tertainment was the traditional breaking of pinatas with a baseball bat while blindfolded. Afterward, they all scrambled for the prizes and candy which tumbled from the broken pinatas. Faculty and staff who at tended the party with their families were Faculty mem bers, Miss Suzanne Vadasz and Erwin Cornelius, both of Cary; Miss Isabel Reyna, Crystal Lake; Miss Diane Hill, Union; Miss Christine Carpenter, Marengo; and ABE secretary, Graciela Arellano, McHenry, who is also a student at MCC. Contributions for the party -were on a voluntary basis. The buffet supper consisted of dishes prepared by ABE students, faculty and staff.
