Holiday Tips SHOPPERS - BE WISE! You can have traditional holiday meals with all the trimmings and not ruin your budget if you use comparison shopping. Consider cost per ounce (or per serving), quality, taste and appeal. Avoid im pulse buying by making out a shopping list and sticking to it. This way your shopping basket will not be filled with ex pensive, unneeded foods. ENTERTAINING WOES Stains on "Perma-press" table linens may be a woe unless you give them special treatment. Before washing, pretreat oil stains with liquid detergent shampoo or grease solvent. Work the liquid into the fabric. For badly stained items leave the treated stain over night before washing. "CHEVON"? "Chevon" may become a new word in the American vocabulary. A recent U.S. Department, of Agriculture regulation permits the labeling of goat meat by its Spanish name, "Chevon." CHESTNUT TIME Blanch chestnuts by putting them in boiling water and letting stand 2 minutes. Remove a few at a time, cool slightly, then peel with a paring knife. If nuts are difficult to peel, return them to the hot water for a minute or two. Roasting will also loosen the skins of chestnuts. Remove shells and skins while nuts are warm. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Assure your family that this season will be a happy time uninterrupted with tragedy by practicing precautions. Unplug the Christmas tree and other decorative lights when not at home. Keep your fresh Christmas tree fresher by filling the water container daily. Avoid mixing liquid holiday spirits with holiday driving. Buy only Toy Manufacturer's Approved toys for tots. Check electrical appliances, electric cords and battery powered appliances for the "UL" Seal of approval. P Fireplaces should have protective screens to keep sparks from burning carpets, furniture, papers, or Christmas trees. Make sure they are banked before going to bed. Human bodies are normally 70 percent water-but this has nothing to do with water on the brain. POLITICAL CORNER Request Bolger For Convention Support Of Muskie William J.
