X" Deaths AMBROSE H SCHAEFEK Ambrose H. Schaefer, 74, one time part owner of Schaefer's Bowling Alley, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, in his home at 2825 W. Lincoln road, McHenry. Mr. Schaefer was born Nov. 25,1897, in Johnsburg and was a lifelong resident of the com­ munity. His affiliations in­ cluded the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Besides his wife, Dorothy, nee Freund, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Marilyn) Harrison and Mrs. Henry (Elaine) Nell, Jr., of McHenry; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. James (Theresa) Halpin of Lake Geneva, Wis., and a brother, Frank, of Woodland Hills, Calif. The body rests at the George R. Justen & Son chapel until 9:30 Friday morning, when a funeral Mass will be offered in St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. LUCILEM. FANNING Lucile M. Fanning of 4014 N. Pitzen road, McHenry, died Jan. 6 at Holy Family hospital DesPlaines. She and her husband came here to spend summers in 1935. They had been permanent residents ten years. Mrs. Fanning was born in Chicago, daughter of Joseph A. and Agatha Alt Miller. Besides her husband, Hugh, whom she married Aug. 4, 1927, in Chicago, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. James (Joan) Wade of Mount Prospect, Mrs. Kevin (Anne) Moran of Cum­ berland, Md., and Mrs. Gregory (Sue) Zeman of Clarendon Hills; fourteen grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lee (Helen) Biedermann, of Crystal Lake. The body will rest at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home after 3 o'clock Friday. A Mass will be offered at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, McHenry. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, DesPlaines. WILLIAM R. VICE William R. Vice, 50, of 7128 Eisenhower drive, Wonder Lake, died Jan. 5 of a heart attack at Fox Lake, where he had taken his wife to the train. Mr. Vice was born Nov. li, 1921, in Chicago and came to this area about twelve years ago. He was employed in art work for the Ridge Printing Co., Crystal Lake. Survivors are his wife, Lyle, nee Shemak, to whom he was married Feb. 15, 1959, in Chicago; also three children, Marty, Larry and Lynda, all of California; two grandchildren; his mother, Ethel Kennedy Vice, of Chicago; a brother, Warren, of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Vivian) Tamaska of Chicago and Mrs. Reno (Mary Lee) Tondelli of Texas. There will be visitation at the Peter M. Justen & Son chapel after 2 o'clock Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the chapel, with/burial in Ringwood cemetery. Singers Open Spring Season Monday, Jan. 10 The McHenry Choral club starts a new season of rehearsals Monday evening, Jan. 10, in the East campus music room. The first evening meeting will be devoted to hearing a stereo recording of the holiday program, as well as viewing color slides of recent programs. Because of the time involved, the recording will be started promptly at 7:45 p.m. Details of the spring program will be outlined the following Monday, and rehearsals will start. Anyone over high school age who would like to join is invited to be present at this second meeting, which starts pi 8 p.m. The deadline for membership is Feb. 7 Marian Central Second Placement Test Set Jan. 9 Un Sunday, Jan. 9, Marian Central Catholic high school will offer the S.T.S. high school placement battery for all eighth grade students who are interested in attending Marian Central but who were unable to write the battery on the first testing date. Seek Fvnds For Harrison School Bleachers, State A method of obtaining money to defray the cost of bleachers and stage for the gymnasium was presented to the board of Harrison school at its last meeting. The superintendent and principal presented a proposal concerning subscription of funds for this purpose, after which the board directed Supt. Bright to prepare a mailing, explaining the need to the patrons of the school district. An evaluation of the ad­ ministrators at Harrison was completed and it was voted three hours. There is no charge and registration is not required. The purpose of this battery is to provide a comprehensive educational analysis of students' strengths and weaknesses, to be used as an aid in selection of high school programs. Students or paren^ who have any questions regarding the S.T.S. battery are urged to call Robert Gough at Marian Central.
