Mayor Doherty expressed appreciation for McHenry citizens--and said it real good. Entertainment by "The Lamplighters" was very good. Let's say excellent. They gave us music and song with the swing of youth and in the best of taste. They went over big. munity. We are always proud to show it to visitors. Lisle Bassett brought in those old time pictures. It was fun looking at them and remem bering. GAY BARBARA Actually, it was Barbara Gay who bowled a 233 game in a 565 series with the Wonder Lake Early Birds. That's bowling! Bentz and Prazak both contributed 11 rebounds apiece as they led the dominance of the glassware by the Warriors. Excellent shooting from the field (37-65 - 57 percent), the Warriors best this season, was also a major factor in the victory Fine shooting from the Jield was joined by fine marksmanship from the f charity stripe (10-14-71 per cent i. Both of these offensive features shed light on the balanced scoring attack as 4 men, led by Mark Bentz' 18 pmnts. were in double figures As in all other Warrior victories the defense sparkled This time a man to man press brought out fine individual performances Don Prazak held his man Wilson to only 6 points in the entire game Wilson is one of the Streak 's f iner players. Jim Hurckes held his man scoreless and Rog Ludwig stopped jWertz, Woodstock's high scorer, in the second half Wertz had 11 points of his 16 points in the first half The Warriors showed a great deal of class as they defeated Woodstock They still are improving with each game. The Warriors are now 4-0 in the NSC and remain in a first place tie with North Chicago Warriors 84 Woodstock - 56 BOX SCORE WARRIORS FG fg ft pf tp Prazak.D 7 0 4 14 Neiss 6 1 2 13 Bentz 8 2 2 18 Miller, R 7 1 1 15 Hurckes. Doctor Sayler (the elder) told us that he and Roland Herr mann were starting a club-- and would we join? Nope. Not with a couple of baldheaded guys. There is going to be a showdown Friday night in Buckner Gym when North Chicago's basketball team plays the Warriors. SUDDEN THOUGHT . . This drive isn't over by a long way If every home in the area sent in a couple of bucks, there would be no problem. Some have given large donations. But, remember that a lot of people, each giving a small amount, can build up the fund where the group can get the job There must have been some connection when Don Weingart and Don Howard approached us to join "Wigs Anonymous." That was a jolly crowd and nobody had to be rescued. We were again thankful that McHenry has that beautiful club house to use for events beneficial to our whole com- These teams are tied for first place in the North Suburban Conference. Something has to give in this game. It should draw the crowd of the year. Right now the Warriors are in high gear. If all departments keep clicking, they could win this big one. Highland Humbles MCC Cagers 89-69 po OMTO OTHERS' AS if you VYEftt OTHERS. Highland Community College delivered a belated Christmas present to the McHenry County College basketball team this past Tuesday evening in the form of an 89 to 69 beating. The holidays apparently didn't do the McHenry five any good as they looked very lethargic throughout the contest. An early exchange of baskets netted a 12 to 12 tie after 5 minutes of play in the Crystal Lake Fieldhouse. At this point Highland began to pull away and drew to a 12 point margin, 41 to 29 by halftime. MCC really never threatened in the closing 20 minutes as Steve Gassman and company continued to widen the gap. The Scots hit on 31 of 72 shots for a fair 43 percent while Highland connected on 36 of 71 for 51 percent Poor defense and lack of movement on of fense were the discouraging factors however. The McHenry County squad will try again Saturday af ternoon, Jan. 8 when they entertain Waubonsee College of Aurora in the Crystal Lake High School Fieldhouse at 2:30 p.m. McHenry fg ft p tot Mulvenna,Jim 5 3 4 13 Thomas, Tom 4 0 3 8 Dehn,Joe 2 15 5 Harbecke, Bruce 7 1 4 15 Hayes, Mark 6 1 0 13 Bielski,Rick 3 0 1 6 May, Dennis 3 0 2 6 Peasley l 10 3 Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund Golf Day Set For June 7 Total 31 7 18 69 Highland Gassman 11 4 0 26 Drake 2 0 2 4 Coames 10 3 3 23 Mensendike 0 0 1 0 Cole 5 3 2 13 Troka 8 0 2 16 Nelson 0 1 0 1 Young 1 0 0 2 Andrews 0 2 0 2 Brinkmeier 0 0 1 0 Total 3 38 13 11 89 June 7, 1972 has been set as the date for the second annual Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund Golf Day, it was an nounced today by Dick Butkus and Ed O'Bradovich of the Chicago Bears, co-chairmen of the Players Committe.
