I Spring Grove Eva Freund 675-2135 Father Freund Offers Mass At Family Gathering May you all have a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year. It is with a feeling of sadness that we are beginning to see Christmas trees leaving front windows of homes and the bright lights going out that glistened so brightly through the happiest season of the year. We had a great deal of hap piness and feeling of Good Will through the holiday season as did many of you, I am sure. On Christmas day the family gathered at our son's home, the Dan Freunds, in Lake-in-the- Hills. Wj^were happy to have our son, Father Nicholas Freund, home from San Diego. After dinner he celebrated a mass in the home. During the mass Deborah Marie daughter of Dan and Ruth Freund, received her First Holy Communion with Father Nicholas, her uncle, officiating. Present were Debbie's grand parents, the Ray Dunhams of Barrington and the Charles Freunds of Spring Grove, God father, Uncle Victor Freund, and her Aunt Martha.) Maria and Barbara Jean from St. Joseph's Home were Mso present. Little sister Kelly was there too, eyes as big as saucers, very interested in the w h o l e p r o c e d u r e . Debbie wore a white dress and veil and carried a nose-gay of pink rose buds and white small mums. The flowers were a gift from her Uncle Chuck and Aunt Charlotte who are in England. Christmas carols were sung and gifts opened. It was a beautiful Christmas. On Sunday Charlie and I and Father Nicholas had a delicious dinner • at ' Vic and Martha Freund's home in Lakeland Park. Evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Freund, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Williams, Betty Weber, Jim Geier and Mrs. Tillie Gerasch. Birthday cake was served in honor of Helen Williams whose birthday was on that day. Happy birthday was sung and once again Christmas Carols. Truly two days of Good Will Towards Men. DECORATIONS ANDCHEER Thank you to the Lotus Country Woman's Club for making Christmas wreaths and thanks to the firemen for putting them up in the village square along with brightly colored lights. One of the wreaths helped to bring Christmas atmosphere to the post office as one was hung above the door at the entrance. Orchids to all those people who helped bring Christmas cheer with good wishes and for all the cooperation which helped speed on the Christmas mailings. CHRISTMAS PARTIES The Lotus Country Woman's Club had an enjoyable time at their (ty-istmas party held at Hunter Country Club for members and guests. There was an exchange of gifts and donations were made by members to be used for gifts for residents of Valley Hi rest home. Each member disclosed their secret pal and presented them with a gift. The party closed with the singing of C h r i s t m a s c a r o l s . TRIPS HERE ANDTHERE Mr. and Mrs. Anton Meyer flew to Greenwich, R.I., to spend the Christmas season with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller. This was their first flight and report enjoying it very much. Mrs. Fred May and daughters, Janet and Betty, drove to Chicago the day after Christmas to visit Mrs. May's sister, Marie Dienlein.
