In their last match of the year against the Barrington Broncos the Warriors trounced their tough opponent by a 38-14 score. This victory gave the young Warriors an excellent 13- 2 record for the season. The Warrior season was not only highlighted by their fine record but also their two Tournament Championships. The Warriors captured tourney crowns at Reavis and Cary Grove. The Warriors also boasted the best sophomore record in the conference as they posted a 6-1 mark. Some of the outstanding Soph wrestlers and their records were: 185 Mike Thornton 7-0 HWT. Joe Dougherty 6-2 Steve Hurckes was voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler by his teammates and Jim O'Malley was voted the Most Improved Wrestler by his teammates. John Morreale had the distinction of scoring the most points in the season as he tallied 75 through his efforts on the mat. On Jan. 7, G.A.A., with the help of Marian's Pep club, sponsored a very successful Sock Hop which took place after the St. Edward's basketball game. On Monday, Jan 31, the Scots bowed to Oakton 83 to 75 and on Tuesday, they failed against Harper 97 to 79. Oakton gained a measure of revenge as they had lost to MCC in their first meeting. The Scots never threw in the towel even though they were behind 46 to 28 at the half MCC kept plugging away and closed the gap to 8 points before time ran out Four Scots were in double figures as Bruce Harbecke, Jim Mulvenna, Joe Dehn and Rick Bielski contributed 26, 20, 13 and 11 points respectively. A tired group of Scots returned to the floor at Harper the next night but couldn't put up much of a fight against a fresh team from Harper Behind by 17 points at the half, the Scots managed to hold their own in the final stanza Once again it was Joe Dehn, Mulvenna and Harbecke leading the scoring for McHenry with 22, 21, and 21 points. Twenty-nine club members and their wives enjoyed an elaborate eight course dinner served in the 16th century Elizabethan style. A complete recreation of a festive feast from the days of Shakespeare with rushes on the floor, candlelight, tyg cups, a court jester and a singing monk, and with buxom, costumed serving wenches. Award plaque statues, fashioned after 16th century Knights, were presented by master of ceremonies Fred Amour of Island Lake to all 1971 club officers. Receiving the awards were president Tom McMahon and vice-president Al Halweg of Waukegan; secretary Bule Coley and treasurere Carl Johnson of Wauconda: and board members Jim Koffend of McHenry and Fred Wahl of Wauconda. Madeline Amour of Island Lake, crowned Tom McMahon and his wife Beverly as King and Queen for the evening. Al Halweg presented the past president pin to president "King Tom" and then gave a short toast to the royal couple. Novelty prizes and awards were also given to Ron and Sharon Amour of Crystal Lake; Don Criel, Jr., and Pete Russo both of Chicago; and Richard and Pat Nemec of Chicago. The weather is a favorite subject these days and a prime subject of conversation for all seasons. When we mentioned the frosty air to Fred Eastman, a Whispering Oaks resident, he replied: "The heat isn't op­ pressive." That one gave us a chuckle. Would we put a plug in S.I.H. for the "Jaycee Wrestling Tournament"? You betcha, we would We ran a story last week on the tourney which will take place Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at West Campus. ^Coach Hutchinson and his staff are teaching boys in 5th through 8th grades on basic requirements toward a place on the high school team. The tournament will be held on Saturday afternoon when many people are not working. The public is invited. Yep. Invitea and urged to watch these young boys in action. Had a fine time at the McHenry Hospital annual dinner at McHenry Country Club Saturday night. We might have had a little moisture in our eyes as our old friend George P. Freund stood before the crowd and bowed out as president after many years of good and faithful service. George was presented with one of the finest plaques we have ever seen. Maybe he will spend more time in his easy chair now after long years of service to our community. Biff" and Esther Meyer were here for the occasion, but headed back to the big city before we had a chance for a visit. "Biff" said he wanted to discuss something with us (about S.I.H.), but it will have to wait. They had a great entertainer for the hospital party. He moved around the tables talking to people and writing down their names. He then surrendered the list and proceeded to identify 100 persons - calling out their names That puzzled us. Some mentioned that since we have boosted the Club in this column, it should be in order for us to let out a blast about the loud music in an adjoining room while the entertainer showed his skill in playing nice tunes on glasses. We understand the Club got the message without us saying more. Loud music and hollering- type singing are not for us. Some of those TV singers cause us to turn the knob. \
