Walsh, in the governor's room at the Mer­ chandise Mart restaurant in Chicago, Tuesday evening. Mr. Walsh is general manager of the restaurants. Mrs. J J. Vasey, 69 years old, died this Thursday morning after a long illness. The county meeting of the American Legion will be held in McHenry this (Thursday) evening. A large delegation is expected to be present. Gabby Hartnett, star catcher of the Chicago Cubs and Jimmy Corcoran, prominent sports writer of the Chicago Evening American, will be guests of the meeting. Modine Manufacturing company's newest plant, located in McHenry County near Ringwood, is now in operation. A.L. Knox is manager of the new McHenry plant. The plant is now producing and shipping aluminum condensers for the rapidly growing automobile air conditioner industry. About forty-five persons are em­ ployed in the initial operations. Missionaries To Speak At Church Convention LICENSE DEADLINE Only a few days now remain for Illinois motorists to have their 1972 license plates mounted on their vehicles, Secretary of State John W. Lewis warned. The deadline for having the plates displayed on the vehicles - not merely applied for, being carried in the glove com­ partment or resting on the dining room table -is midnight, Tuesday, Feb. 15. THE REV SAWYER Three veteran missionaries of the Christian and Missionary Alliance wiU be speaking in the annual missionary convention of the Alliance Bible church, 3813 W. John street, in McHenry. Rev. Malcolm Sawyer, missionary to southeast Asia will be speaking in the morning worship hour, Sunday, Feb. 13, at 11 am., and also in the evening service at 7 p.m. Mr. Sawyer was orignaUy assigned to China in 1947 and was evacuated to minister in Laos following the rapid communist take-over of the Tibetan border of Kansu, West China, in 1949. Since their arrival in Laos, the Sawyers have been engaged in Bible school work, training young people for service as pastors, evangelists and Christian teachers. They have been ministering to the Meo and Khamoo tribal groups, as well as to the Lao people them­ selves. The Rev. Oscar Jacobson will be ministering in the con­ vention on both Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 14-15, at 7:30 p.m. He has been a missionary to Colombia, South America, since 1942. Having served in a variety of evangelistic and teaching ministeries, including service among the Paes In­ dians and evangelizing coastal areas with the use of a 40-foot launch, Mr. Jacobson will describe the changing attitudes in South America toward the Bible and the work of evangelical missionareis. He reports, "There has been a mighty moving of the Holy Spirit upon Colombia, changing the spiritual atmosphere, resulting in multitudes seeking Christ as Saviour." A third missionary, the Rev. Roy Solvig, who has been at work in two African nations during the changing political and social tides of the past ten years, will come here to take part in the convention. He will also be ministering on Monday and Tuesday evening with the Rev. Jacobson, and will return Wednesday evening at 7:30. In Africa, the Solvigs' first term of service was spent in the Republic of Guinea. Because missionaries were not allowed to return there in 1967, they transferred to Dimbokro, Ivory Coast. They have found ex­ panding opportunities for Christian witness among the new generation of young Africans, who are eager to study the Bible. Rev. Solvig will also be sharing an account of the great revival now sweeping across Canada. The pastor and congregation of the Alliance Bible church extend a cordial invitation to all interested persons to attend any or all of these special services. MeHonry FS Holds Pravfow Annual Meeting A regular annual meeting as usual, plus a preview annual meeting in Walworth county, is scheduled this year for members of McHenry FS, Stanley Steagall, general manager, has announced. The regular annual meeting of the farmer-owned cooperative will be Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Woodstock high school auditorium at 11 a.m. j with a noon dinner for mem- ! bers and their families. The change this year will be a preview meeting at Elkhorn for those members from Walworth county unable to travel to Woodstock for the regular < reports, election and en- ' tertainment.
