Thinking About Her. Of all you cherish, what's most important to you? Your wife -- of course. Just think of all she does for you and your family. She's irreplaceable and if she should die dollars can't take her place. But an adequate life insurance policy could help to get some of her many jobs done and to keep your household going. Ask your State Farm agent about person-to-person life insurance. He has a policy with vour wife in mind. New World Veteran By Open To College LARRY WEISHOFF Larry Weishoff's work is also his hobby. He enjoys assem bling, maintaining and repairing all types of electronic equipment - radios, tape recorders and television sets. "I assembled my own color TV recently, something I couldn't have done before studying electronics at MCC," he said. A part-time student at McHenry County college, Larry works full-time in the college's Audio-Visual department where he main tains and repairs all the A-V equipment. He expects to graduate in 1973 with an Associate in Applied Science degree. "MCC has made it possible for me to study electronics," Larry said. He doesn't know how he would have managed without the college so con veniently located. You see, he has a problem - he thoroughly dislikes living in or too near a big city; he much prefers life in the country. Attending the college, Larry says, has caused him to realize that he is interested in a variety of subjects. Mother Makes Appeal For Word Of Five Children The following letter was received by the McHenry Chamber of Commerce, written by a young mother of five small children, of whom she says she has custody. Mrs. Dorothy Flesher believes they have a step-mother named Guillermina who speaks only Spanish. Their Caucasian father's name is Robert W. Flesher. The letter was written to Mrs. Flesher's oldest child, a boy, Billy, 11. "Dear Billy, "I am writing you this letter because you are the eldest of my five. By now you are 11 years old - four years have passed and I am so lonely. "I have contacted many people to help in my search -- and am sending this letter all over the United States and a few to Mexico in the hope of finding you! "Your grandfather and grandmother live in Sand Point, Idaho. "In March of 1967, your father ran away from Nevada with all of you -- and I am wondering if you still remember your brothers and sisters Manuel, Richard, Ab- bie, Carmelita, Venida, Maria and Roberta? They miss you, June, Patty, Lupita and Rafael as I do -- We love you all very much! "Since I have custody of all of you, I hope and pray my efforts will not be in vain. Somewhere, somehow I'll find you. Voters' Group Supports High Quality Day Care Support for high quality day care available to all children whose families wish to use it with priority to those in greatest economic need has been expressed by the League of Women Voters of Illinois, of which the League of Women Voters of Woodstock-McHenry is a member. The League consensus, reached after more than a year of study, research and debate describes quality day care as a program which includes educational programs, in volvement of parents, and a socio-economic mix of children. Among programs which might be used with day care are in fant care including well-baby health care, latch-key care for children after and before school hours, night time care, special services for retarded and handicapped and provision of more day care homes. Families using day care service should pay according to their ability, the League suggests; but the remainder of the cost should be made up by public and private funds with the federal government bearing the , major financial responsibility. If funding is limited, services should go first to low-income families, regardless of whether the family is receiving public assistance. The League feels that the state should take an active role in securing funds from public and private sources, including encouraging local participation and funding from business, industry and unions. The local Woodstock-McHenry League also suggested involving volunteer groups as a potential source of funds and practical aid. The League asks that the state continue to license day care facilities and to set and enforce standards, particularly in the areas of physical setting and staff. Program respon sibility, League members feel, should be at the local level. Present licensing procedures by the state are generally acceptable, the consensus states, but Leagues felt that overly strict or overly com plicated licensing should not be permitted to inhibit the setting up of a facility. The Leagues also saw a role for the state in promoting in- service training of personnel and for community colleges in providing training programs for day care staff. Following this agreement on principles of an adequate day care program in the state, the League will work for ap propriate legislation. A num ber of Leagues in the state have been involved in starting day care facilities and in working with community groups supplying these ser vices. "MEANWHILE BACK AT KU THE COURTHOUSE" The Illinois Commission on Human Relations has issued a booklet of guidelines for staring local police-community relations (PCR) programs in response to requests for help from local police departments, according to Mrs1 Beatrice Young, executive director.
