McHenry Grams Club Meeting - Club Room, City Hall -- 12:30 p.m. Garter Dance For Area Church The Ladies sodality of Christ the King church, Wonder Lake, Our Lady Help of Christians, Chairman guild, will sponsor a Red Garter dance Saturday, March 4, from 9 p.m. to 12:30. The dance which will be held in the church hall, offers a night of unusual musical talent for the Wonder Lake area. A famous banjo band will perform featuring Jack Meilahen on the French horn and string bass. Meilahen has toured Europe playing in Copenhagen, Munich and England as well as in this country. He has appeared on the Lee Phillip show in Chicago and performed with the U.S.O. in Panama. John Wallers, trumpet player, often called a second Wild Bill Davidson, has also toured Europe. Tickets for the dance, which include food,-may be obtained from any sodality member. Johnsburg, was the scene of a lovely winter wed ding Saturday, Feb. 19, when Carole Wu, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Wu of 924 Nip pe^sink, Spring Grove, ex changed nuptial vows with Eugene J Diedrich, son of Mr. and Mrs l^eo Diedrich of 2506 W. Church street, McHenry. They repeated their vows before Rev Leo Bartel at the 3 o'clock afternoon services. Given in marriage by her father, the pretty bride chose a floor length gown of white lace over satin, fashioned with an empire waistline tied with satin ribbons, a high scalloped collar and white, heart-shaped but­ tons which enhanced the front of the gown Her floor length, tulle veil trimmed with scalloped edging was attached to a tiara headpiece. She carried a bouquet of red roses, pink carnations and baby's breath trimmed with white streamers Maid of honor was Mary Schafer of Spring Grove, a friend of . the bride Bridesmaids were Paula Wu, a sister of the bride, and Sue Diedrich. the groom's sister. Ushers were Ron Diedrich and John Wu. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Wu chose a pink and beige dress with a pink carnation corsage. The groom's mother wore a blue dress with lace sleeves and a similar corsage Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Johnsburg Community club for 185 guests. Terri Huffar, the groom's niece, circulated the guest book at the reception. The wedding cake was made by the groom's sister, Mrs. George Sorenson. The bridegroom is employed at the Butcher Boy factory in Harvard as a draftsman trainee. He also serves in the Air Force Reserves as a medic. After a wedding trip, the newlyweds will make their home in Harvard Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Green Bay and Elkhorn, Wis , and from Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yegge and Montini Primary Center Presents Curriculum Study Thursday evening, Feb. 17, the entire faculty of the Montini Primary center explained their present curriculum to parents. After a short presentation, Sister Paulina, principal, in­ troduced each faculty member. Using slides, pictures, and tape recordings, Sister Mary Kathleen explained the new religion series being used in the school. Mrs. Frances Schneider presented her creative art program by displaying many samples of the pupils' work. The use of a flannel board was Mrs. Marie Martin's visual aid in presenting the Math area. The reading process was explained by Mrs. Irwin and Mrs. Boone. Parents were used as "guinea pigs", making the presentation most enjoyable and interesting. Mrs. Joyce Toepper gave a children of Grafton, Wis., spent Sunday in the Norbert Yegge home and helped Mrs. Yegge celebrate her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe May, Mrs. Rose Staines and Mrs. Irene Guffey were Sunday guests in the Elmer Smalfeldt in Kenosha. Mrs. George Merkt and mother, Mrs. Alma Riggs of Salem, Wis., and Richard Rapp of Rockford were Tuesday visitors in the Fred Bienapfl home. Sister Alma of Notre Dame, Ind., was a guest in the home of her sister, Mrs. George Phalin, a few days this week. Dr. and Mrs. W.W. Syens of Wauconda Feb. 12 in a ceremony solemnized at 3 p.m. in Evangelical Free church of Wauconda. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Syens, also of Wauconda. Following a reception for 100 guests, the couple left on a honeymoon trip to Wisconsin and Ohio. They are making their home at 104 Valley View, McHenry.
