McHenry has the gym and the facilities to handle tournaments. In spite of our Warriors getting their lumps against Barrington and North Chicago, we look for them to bounce up and win this tournament. So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR J flashed good form and should hit his peak next eyar. Althoff has not seen much action, but isn't slow about firing at the nets. Neiss is out with an injury and his marksmanship is missed. He can hit from out side. As we have often written, Coach Ludwig needs one big man, about 6 8" of man. He does have a hustling team Looking down the line as listed on the scoreboard: Hurckes is a hustler and has the stamina to go full speed all night. Miller is a good ball handler and has had good games as a point maker. He works hard in covering his man Fast and a hard worker. Mauch hasn't seen much action, but could make many starting lineups where com petition isn't so tough. Un fortunately some boys get little playing time. As you know only too well, the coach can play only five men at a time. Hoffman was out of action for a while, but came back strong. He can shoot and is strong on defense. Harbich is another who probably hasn't hit his peak, but shows ability. Knaack is big and strong. Hasn't hit his real stide, but has the know how. Ludwig is a Junior who has Batdorff is a tall fellow who fills in nicely when needed. (PLAINDEALER PHOTO) Warriors Seek First Regional Win In School Basketball History McHenry Sportsman's Club by Fred Kusch Not since the school opened back in the early 1900's have the Warriors ever gotten past the semi-finals of IHSA Regionals of the State Basketball Tournament. Next week when regional play opens at Buckner gym the Warriors will be plugging for that first Regional crown. Dueling the Warriors will be the Antioch Sequoits and the Grant Bulldogs of the Nor thwest Suburban Conference Prazak is a well built athlete and a tower of strength in the lineup -- strong under the boards and carries his share of the scoring load. We notice a great improvement in his free throw shooting. in our conversation learned that he had spent a month in a hospital. Fenner is a big fellow who has been handicapped by in jury, but comes in to do a good job. Last but not least on the list copied from the scoreboard is Bentz. He is a husky one ~ surprises other teams the way he can clear the boards and has been a leading scorer. These fellows are good basketball players who give it all they have. Just give Coach Ludwig that one tall fellow and the Warriors would be tough to beat. Win that tournament, fellows! You can do it. Mentioned to a friend what a nice car he was driving. "This car will passlfnything but a gas station", was the reply. Too many candidates tell us what's wrong with the other fellow when election time comes. Did we say "Bill" Anderson? It was Dick Anderson who gave us the tour of Parkland School. Have spent more than our share of time in different hospitals and know how happy we were to see the mailman bring greeting cards. Have found a good subject for our strange sense of humor. We send cartoons and such that tickle our funny bone to our cousin Rose Ann Walsh. Never before in 37 years of column and sports writing have we received a call from such an emotionally disturbed fellow as we did Wednesday night. The fellow was using some pretty strong language, but was screaming so loud that we couldn't get his complaint. He wouldn't give his name. Though we caught something about the White Sox. Well, anybody who takes our kidding about the Cubs and Sox seriously shouldn't read this column. We hand it out, but boy oh boy do we get it back! It is all in fun and good sports know it. A1 Jourdan is a White Sox fan. He's also a Republican, but we won't hold that against him! Fish are much safer these days. Two of our neighbors, Ford Hanford and Joe Bauer are hospitalized. They went ice fishing on days when we found it better to be inside looking out. If the fellow had come to see us - and acted like a gentleman -- we would certainly have been glad to talk to him. This column has never been designed to hurt anyone. Maybe some remarks are misunderstood. But, it takes more courage to write something with your name signed to it than it does to hide behind a telephone or write anonymous letters. RESIGNS POST Herbert J. Sass of 4402 W.
