Plant food sales accounted for $1,240,000 of last year's all-time high sales total of $3,750,000. "Farmers are finding the most effective way to control weeds and insects is with the proper use of chemicals," he summarized "Sales of these products showed a $110,000 increase." i' Sales for the company have doubled during the past ten years, reaching a record $3,750,000 for 1971. For the first time sales for the feed department topped $1 million. The total sales volume for the company represents an in­ crease of a half-million dollars over 1970 total sales. McHenry FS also produced its highest net income--$188,655. It also paid $t7,205 in federal and state income taxes while also paying to Farm Bureau member customers $112,197 in patronage refunds. On Class D stock owned by members McHenry FS paid $23,771 in dividends.
