Bus driver Bob An derson transported the youngsters to the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium on Wednesday, March 1. Sharing this educational and fun day were first grade teachers, Miss Mary Jo Cally, Mrs. Marilyn Sue Witt and Miss Ruth Freiburger, and helping to keep the little Harison Indians from getting mixed up with the historical Indians were first grade mothers, Mrs. Sue Vanek, Mrs. Pat Sullivan, Mrs. Mary Lou Warren and Mrs. Shirley Cristy. WELCOME DAUGHTER Robert and Michelle Manke, rural Woodstock, welcomed a girl, Katherine Mary, Feb. 17, at Woodstock hospital weighing 5 lbs., 14 ozs., and 19 inches long. Waiting at home to greet their new sister are Donald, 7 years old and Connie, 41/-. years old. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Muss Hansen, Wonder Lake, maternal great grandmother is Mrs. Louise Hansen, Wonder Lake and paternal grandparents ar$,Mr. and Mrs. Martin Manke, rural Woodstock. The baby's mother is the former Michelle Hansen, Wonder Lake. VISIT SECRET HOUSE Brownie Troop No. 413, Greenwood school, visited their "secret House" in January. The game "The Bug in a Rug" taught them safety procedures in a fun way. The Scouts were assigned Brownie Sisters from another country, and during Thinking Day Week (Feb. 20- 26) told about their country, said their Scout promise and received their world friendship pins. Leaders of Troop No. 413 are Mrs. Charm Hay and Mrs. Pat Schuler. INTERTROOP PARTY An intertroop Valentine party was enjoyed by Brownie Troops 413 and 492, both of Greenwood school. Troop No. 413 ho6ted the party, and Troop No. 492 provided the en tertainment by showing car toons. Leaders of Troop No. 492 are Mrs. Kit Pratt and Mrs. Sheila Bambrick. COOKIE DRIVE Kachina Neighborhood Cookie Chairman, Mrs. Janet Bell, has completed preparations for the Girl Scout Cookie Drive to be held from March 3 thru March 10. She is being assisted by the individual troop cookie chairmen - Mrs. Marian Eising, Troop 416, Mrs. Dorothy Laycock, Troop 421, Mrs. Katie Walker Troop 420, Mrs. Georgia Petersen, Troop 499 and Mrs. Jerrie LeBrecht, Troop 435. In addition to sup porting their own individual troops, the Scouts will be selling cookies to support the Council camping facilities used and enjoyed by all Scouts in the Council. OVER-NIGHT CAMP Two Kachina junior scout troops enjoyed the use of the Chapman Hills Camp site this month. Troop 435 spent a two- niter at the camp earlier in the month. The Scouts enjoyed sledding, string painting, cooking and putting on original plays at campfire. "The stirring Saga of Sandy Silverheart" with Sandy Schau, Patty Coleman, Julie Huff, Donna Berlin and Sharon « Schau, and "The Witches of Chapman Hills" with Veronica Kerkes, Barbara Seeber, Lynn Raske, Marv LeBrecht and Destinee Fruscella were fun entertainment. Troop 416 ex perienced their very first overnight at Chapman on Feb. 19 and 20. The Scouts really took to camping and enjoyed their first outing complete with an Italian supper of spaghetti and garlic bread and a treat of popcorn and chocolate fondue at the campfire. Leaders of Troop 416 are Mrs. Nancy Berg and Mrs. Carrie Blaha. Mrs. Chris Hensel also accompanied the troop. LEADERS CONFERENCE Mrs. Mary Lou Cope, Neigh borhood Chairman, Mrs. Nancy Berg and Mrs. Carrie Blaha of Troop No. 416, and Mrs. Lucy Coleman of Troop No. 435 at tended thejyftaders' Conference and Luncheon at Villa Olivia Country Club on Wednesday, March 1, as representatives of Kachina Neighborhood. They participated in discussion groups relating to Scouting and girls in Scouting, and will report on the day at the next Neighborhood meeting March 22. BLUE AND GOLD BANQUET The Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scout Pack 145 took place on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Christ the King parish hall. The scouts and their families enjoyed a delicious beef dinner. Each table was decorated with an original centerpiece made by the Scouts in their various dens. Cub Master, Joseph Geisenger, presided over a short meeting before the dinner. Badges and awards were handed out to deserving Scouts. A flashlight was presented to each Scout for selling his quota of candy in the recent money earning project with special awards given to the boys selling 50 and 100 boxes. Den No. 1, led by den mother, Mrs. Milton Hansen, presented a skit with hand made puppets. BIRTHDAY GREETINGS Happy Birthday to ...
