March 4, when Susan Jean Spirodek. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Spirodek of Route 1, Barrington, became the bride of Thomas C. Morris, son of Mr and Mrs Sinclair E. Morns of 5010 W. Parkview, McHenry They repeated their vows at the 3 o'clock afternoon services in a church decorated with bouquets of white mums and gladioli The pretty bride chose a floor length taffeta gown with nylon overlay fashioned in an A-line silhouette, with long puffy sleeves enhanced by elbow- length cuffs, a scoop neckline and full hemline accented with beaded flower trim. Her cathedral length mantilla veil banded with beaded florai trim was attached to a beaded floral headpiece. She carried a cascading bouquet of yellow and white carnations. JoAnne Spirodek of Barrington attended the bride as maid of honor Bridesmaids were Nancy Kordek of Mun- delein. Pat Larski of McHenry and Mary Ellen Koutny of Buffalo Grove The attendants ..ore lavender, floor length, A-line gowns featuring lace bibs, and long puffy sleeves with elbow length cuffs. Lavender bow headpieces with fingertip veils completed their ensembles. The maid of honor carried a basket filled with cascading, purple tipped carnations. The bridesmaids carried similar baskets of yellow carnations. John H. Morris of McHenry served as best man. Groom­ smen were Gene Kalvaitis of Wheeling, Don Smith of Lake Zurich and Bill Larsky of McHenry. Ushers were James E. Morris of McHenry and John Weiner of Fox River Grove. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Spirodek chose a teal blue, A-line dress with silver ac­ cessories and a white tea rose corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a canary yellow, A-line dress with bone ac­ cessories and a similar cor­ sage. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for 125 friends and relatives was held at the Al-Kaya Inn, Island Lake. The bride is a 1970 graduate of Carmel high school and is employed at General Telephone, DesPlaines. The bridegroom graduated from McHenry high school in 1968 and served two years in the Army. He is presently em­ ployed as a machinist for Jewel Home Shopping, Barrington. After a wedding trip to Wisconsin, the newlyweds will reside in Palatine. Prior to the wedding, the bride was honored at two showers. One was hosted by Mrs. Patty Larski and Jo Anne Spirodek. The second was given by her future sisters-in-law, Mrs Nancy Weiner and Mrs. Kathy Morris. Special Entertainment In S.C. Club Planning St. Patrick's Social Set By CD of A Court The next meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizens club will be held Monday, March 13, at 7 30p.m. at the East campus cafeteria The program for the evening will be very en tertaining, a clown act presented by Ken Schopp of McHenry Schopp is well known in this area for his many per formances at various functions, particularly his appearance in the annual Marine Festival parade The Feb 28th meeting was attended by 140 members. During the business session, the following activities were mentioned Bus trip to Chicago Loop March 8, Bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. March 23, bus trip to the Flower Show in Chicago - contact Mrs Giel for reservations; March 29 - Easter shopping bus trip to Woodfield Mrs Giel is also taking reservations for this trip Anyone wishing to go on any of these bus trips should con­ tact Louise Giel at once regarding reservations The annual spring smorgasbord will be Monday. April 24. at 6:30 p m . at the East campus cafeteria This smorgasbord is for members only Tickets will be available at the next meeting The club asks if members have any remnants of materials, laces, ribbons or any thread they would like to give away. Also any old Christmas, birthday, or greeting cards of any kind to dispose of These materials would be very much appreciated at Valley-Hi Nursing home Mrs Alice Wilke will appreciate it if members will bring any of these materials to the meeting, and she will see that they are taken to Valley-Hi Alf Heggeland mentioned the art classes every Tuesday afternoon at landmark school, as well as square dancing every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Landmark school Both of these activities are well attended, but there is always room for more Frank Giel is very pleased with the success of the two bowling sessions, but says there is room for additional bowlers The card and discussion groups have not been meeting at landmark school on Friday nights during the winter, but these sessions will begin again after April 1 The McHenry Senior Citizens club continues to grow, and there are activities to interest practically everyone In fact, there is not enough time to participate in all the various groups activities. However, if any members have any ideas or suggestions for additional things of interest, don't fail to drop the "idea" in the suggestion box STUDENT TEACHER Miss Helen Morowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Morowski, 1202 South Route 31, McHenry, student at National College of Education. Evan- ston-Wilmette, will be student teaching during the spring quarter She will have this all- day experience under the superv ision of a top teacher at Miller school in Evanston. The next meeting of Court Joyce Kilmer, No. 573, Catholic Daughters of America, will be held Thursday,March 16, at 8 p.m., in the K.C. hall, 1304 N. Park street Five new mem­ bers will be received, with Mrs. Irene Fischer, state deputy, officiating at the reception. All members are invited to join in welcoming the new members. Following the reception, there will be a St. Patrick's day social. Chairmen for the evening are Katherine Bolger and Lillian Bolger. Serving on their committee will be Eleanor Strache, Carmel Maynard and Ellen Sharkey, with Hildegard Douglas and Kay Luing, honorary members of the committee Plans are well under way for the spring card party to take place April 20 at 8 p.m., in the K.C. hall. The Communion Sunday for all members will be at St. Patrick's church Sunday, April 30, at 9:45 a.m., with breakfast following. The Mother's Day banquet is set for Monday, May 15, 'in St. Patrick's hall. More details will be forthcoming from the chairmen of these committees. Anyone who would like to be part of this group is welcome. A Mass will be offered soon for Adelaide Gausden, a recently deceased member St. Mary 's bulletin should be asked for the date. Pledge Ritual Is Planned For Pi Alpha Chapter Plans for a pledge ritual to be held March 21 at the home of MrsS William Boyle were an­ nounced at the last meeting of Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, held Monday at the home of Mrs. Frank Mazzone, Jr. Details of the ritual were presented by Mrs. Dale Sprouse, chapter president. Mrs. Pearce Konold, Service chairman, announced that the chapter will send donations to the Danny Lyons Memorial fund and the Woodstock Residence for the Elderly. Outstanding program awards for the quarter were made to Mrs. Boyle for her program on "Art" and to Mrs. Mazzone, Jr., for her "Travel" program. The evening's program from the booklet, "Happiness" was presented by Mrs. Konold, who spoke on "Freer Affections with People", assisted by each member who related a special event involving either a small child, a teen-ager or elder. Refreshments were served by the hostess to Mesdames William Haddick, Leonard Siatta, Lee Andress, Dale Sprouse, Russ Parker, Craig Stackhouse, Pearce Konold, Carl Grinstead and Miss Adele Sabel. Entertainment To Be Discussed By Montini Parents The Montini Parents association will hold its next meeting Thursday, March 16, at St. Patrick's church hall at 7:30 The program for the evening will include Ted Schweder, bingo chairman, and his committee's information and facts on the planned en­ tertainment the Montini Parents association will have in the near future. Everyone is planned to attend for an en­ joyable evening and help support the school and Parents association. Refreshments will be served by the hostesses. The ceremony was performed in the First United Methodist church of Park Ridge. After a trip to Hawaii, the bride resumed her duties as stewardess for Delta Airlines. The bridegroom is attending the University of Indiana at Bloomington. For Bridal Fair The newest bridal fashions were modeled by twenty-three Northern Illinois university students at the fifth annual NIU Bridal Fair Sunday, March 5, in the University center ballroom. The six escorts selected by the models included David N. Pictor of 4117 W. Crestwood, McHenry, who is a junior at NRJ. The Associated Women Students sponsored the event with bridal gowns, tuxedos and prizes furnished by local merchants and sixty national advertisers. St. Agatha Communion Set Sunday, March 12 Corporate Communion for the adult and junior members of St. Agatha Court 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters at Johnsburg, will be Sunday, March 12, at the 9 o'clock Mass in St. John's church. Breakfast will be served in the Community club hall following the Mass. Members are reminded of the date change for the March meeting due to the primary elections in the hall on the regular date. Election of of­ ficers will be Monday, March 20, at 8 p.m. instead of Tuesday. Club Members Will Make Visit To Valley Hi Home McHenry Woman's club members will visit the Valley Hi Nursing home March 15. The club is asking members to donate cupcakes, cosmetics for women and cigarettes for the men, and also to assist in en­ tertaining patients by playing games.
