Woman's Club Visits Valley Hi Residents A party was given by members of the McHenry Woman's club for the Valley Hi Nursing home March 15. Mrs. John DeSylvester, chairman of! education and scholarship, organized the visit. Mrs. Dorothy Weber played the pianao and all joined in a sing-along of old time songs. Games were played by some of the group. Mrs. Mary Knaack, therapist for the home, would be grateful for donations of thread, scraps of material and pieces of lace or other trimmings to be used by the patients; also nylon stockings to be used as stuffing for various items. Mrs. DeSylvester expressed appreciation to all those who helped in any way to make the visit a success. Baptismal Rite Held For Baby Of David Smiths Thomas David Smith, first child of Mr. and Mrs. David Smith of 2402 Villa lane, McHenry, was christened in a baptismal service which took place Sunday, March 12, in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church. The Rev. Roger W. Schneider officiated at the 10:30 service. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kotiw of McHenry were godparents for their new nephew. Fifteen relatives and close friends attended the church rite and later gathered at the home of the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wet- teland, in McHenry. The paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Hubert Smith of McHenry. Thomas David was born last Dec. 30. The printed books have formerly been delivered from the printer on Mondays during legislative sessions and mailed by noon the next day. During the mailing process the state's regular printing operations were shut down. A cost study directed by Thofrnas B. Blanco, head of the division of procurement, determined the shutdown was costing the state $500 a week. Goodwill In­ dustries submitted the lowest bid for the work, $257 a week.
