Donkeys In Laugh Contest Men versus Donkeys. That's right - men versus donkeys. The donkey basketball game scheduled at Crystal Lake Field House, on Monday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m., will pit the Crystal Lake teachers against the Crystal Lake Jaycees in a game that will be filled with laughs, thrills, spills and fun galore. We say "men versus donkeys", because players on both teams will have their problems moving the stubborn donkeys toward the basket. They'll have trouble staying on the donkeys from time to time. Of course, this will bring much laughter to the fans. Donkey basketball has often been called the "FUNNIEST SHOW ON EARTH." It combines the circus, the rodeo, and basketball. It is a source of laughter from the time the players attempt to climb on the donkeys until the final whistle sounds. New cowboy stars will be born during the game. Out of nowhere will come new heroes of the circus world. Of course, the new -found stars will only be the local riders, but the thrills they give the fans are not to be forgotten. Carl Becker of Joliet Bowhunters made a score of 512 which came to within 4 points of breaking the course record. Becker shoots with a sight on his bow. High woman's free style score was 424 shot by Eunice Schewe of Blackhawk Archers in Rockford. Chicago Bowhunter, John Krbec shot highest in barebow with a 369 and Gilbert Livingston also of CBH, was a very impressive 393 in heavy tackle division. Boys youth division was all won by Sioux Wasky Archers of DuPage County with young Villegas to score of 96, shot by girls high score was 96, shot by Veena Wickert of Auroraland Archers. The NIB McHenry club winners in their respective classes were: first place trophies to Joe Kozial and Ray Koch.
