It is most ap propriate as the April 15 tax deadline draws near. "Twoscore and sixteen years ago our fathers brought forth upon this nation a new tax conceived in desperation and dedicated to the proposition that all citizens are fair game. "Now we are engaged in a great mass of calculations testing whether this taxpayer or any taxpayer so confused and so impoverished can long endure. "We are met on form 1040. We are here to dedicate a final resting place for a large portion d our income to those who here live that they may spend our money. Now this is entirely anguish and torture but in Fiesta In Style Of Mexico The children in second grade (Mrs. Moerschbaecher's class) finished a unit in social studies on Mexico recently. They con cluded the unit with a fiesta which was enjoyed by both her classes and those of Mrs. Danko. The children made Mexican pottery from papier mache and painted it brightly. They were joined at their fiesta by Miss Donna Weichmann, who played the guitar and taught them Spanish songs. The real highlight of the fiesta was the eating of hot tamales and tacos by all the children, which was prepared by their school cook for them. Miss Donna Weichmann is shown above with some of the children singing their Spanish songs. another sense we cannot evade, we cannot cheat, we cannot underestimate this tax. The collectors clever and sly, who here compute have gone far beyond our poor powers to add and subtract. "It is not for us the taxpayer to question the tax which our g o v e r n m e n t h a s t h u s f a r ignobly spent. We the tax payers should rededicate ourselves to the great task remaining before us. "Therefore, we the taxpayers hereby highly resolve that from these vanishing dollars we shall take increased devotion to the remaining few, that this tax payer underpaid shall figure more deductions and that this tax of the people, by the Congress, for the government shall not cause solvency to perish." 4-H News, McHENRY MOUNTIES Denise Quist called the meeting to order. We said the pledges and Kathy Quist called the attendance and read the minutes. We accepted them, and then talked aboutstarting a horse clinic with the Cherry Valley 4-H club.
