POET'S CORNER "TO YOU ONLY" You said, if you were worthy That some day Pd pen for you. A poem of sweet remembrance Token rf a friendship true. So here it is, Tis from my heart As you can plainly see. Just what you are, in friendship's name. And what you mean to me. No one can take away this treasure Declare to me you are untrue. You are staunch as stately pillars. That upholds the heaven's blue. Yet at heart you are so tender Sweet as any budding rose. Strength cf character it is written Within a heart of purest gold. So as I turn back memory's pages One leaf stands out so clear defined. On it happy times together That we have shared, dear friend of mine. Then as I look a little further Another leaf 1 read it too. It's one we both have known in sadness When shadows clouded over the blue. So who could tell a sweeter story As we wander memory's lane, Than we two who've know the glory of both happiness and pain. A perfect friendship comes to each one, For some it's late but others soon. A perfect blossom you'll find blooming, Fragrant rare of sweet perfume. It's the blossom known as friendship, Tended both with love and care And you'll find no other growing. Than to this one, you can compare. Dark days come but they'll be passing We know for us they'll be but few. There'll be others filled with gladness When from the clouds, the sun shines through. So if of me you're ever doubtful Read this message that I send. Telling of my love and friendship Faith declaring till the end. And if I have your feelings wounded, Or spoken words to you unkind, Please forgive me, t'was in anger Trusted loyal friend of mine. Estelle Harmon Baldwin 1308 N. Court Street SNOWFLAKE She's nothing but fur And two eyes of blue She has a giant purr And a midget mew. She darts and pats the air, She starts and cocks her ear, When there is nothing there For her to hear. She runs around in rings, But why I cannot tell. With sideways leaps she springs, At things invisible. Then halfway through a leap Her startled eyeballs close And she drops off to sleep With one paw on her no6e. Marilyn Moltz (Eight year old great-niece of Madeline Nathans on) NATURE'S SPRING Nature has given birth once more, Again this year, as in the years before. She's given birth to the buds of trees, To the Robin's song and gentle breeze. The birth of grass back to its green. And born the flowers to complete the scene. Nature has created a wonderful thing, She's given birth to a lovely Spring. By Maureen M.J. Frantz FIRST BORN The pains, the pains to be endured, At last, a baby's cry is heard. And all is well upon the earth, For I, Yes I have given birth. A precious son I now can hold, With big blue eyes and hair of gold. These memories I know so clear, When first I held my baby dear. But time has changed this darling one, To a brown eyed, red haired little son. His laughter is a welcome treat, As he toddles along on baby feet. Ah, Time! YouVe changed that scene also, My, how he did grow! What happened to the years between? All of a sudden, he is sixteen. Bv Maureen M.J.
