A certain young man in our subdivision has really been on "cloud nine" for the past ten days and has good reason Guy Filipand two rf has friends, Ron and Ken Larsen from Arlington Heights, flew to Aspen. Colo , for a vacation of skiing They stayed at a small chalet in the mountains and skied the beautiful Rockies from dawn to dusk. After spending several days there, they rented a car and drove down to Alta. Utah. and spent the remainder of their vacation at a beautiful lodge again skiing the intricate runs to their hearts delight. They winged home through the clouds and have memories of a vacation that will stay with them for a long time to come. She was born at Great Lakes Naval hospital, weighed in at 8 lbs., l oz , and has been named Rebecca. Christine has been staying with her mother and dad as hubby Chuck Neubauer whoatone time alsolived in the subdivision is in the U.S. Navy and presently stationed down in Norfolk, Va Waiting for mommy to come home from the hospital with her new little sister is Jennifer, one year and two weeks old. Chuck is due to be released shortJy from the Navy as he has been in for three and a half years and is very anxious to be reunited with his family and get acquainted with his new littJe daughter. TRIP CANCELLED There was quite a group of disappointed little Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 478 last Friday, April 7, as for many weeks now, they were looking forward to going to see Peter Pan at Mill Run. The trip was planned, all arrangements for mothers and drivers had been made, but the one person not consulted was "Mr. Weather" and his plans apparently did not coincide with theirs, as he sent sleet, hail, lightning, thunder and then several inches of snow. One half hour before the group was to leave, the whole trip had to be cancelled due to driving conditions. It was a big letdown for everyone involved.but nicer weather will be here soon and another trip will be planned to replace this one. 3 IN 1 BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION March is a busy birthday month for the Jack White family on Driftwood. Mabel's birthday is March 5; Jack's birthday is March 9; and Robert's birthday is March 13. Mabel had some of her neigh bors in for cake and coffee and all three birthdays were celebrated at one time. SHORT TRIP Johnny Emerson of Oak Lane had a very nice Easter vacation. He spent the whole week visiting with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. David Lack d Elgin, and had much fun playing with his four cousins, Michael, David, Debbie and Steven. EASTER - BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS The Jerry Smith family on Evergreen street were ex ceptionally busy Blaster weekend. Little Jeff's birthday was on March 30, so on April 1, eight of his little friends came ever to help him celebrate. Gloria served them all a delicious lunch, topped with cake and ice cream. They all played games and then were taken to the show. A combination Easter bir thday celebration was held with the relatives on Sunday, April 2, and among those present were Grandma Adeline Weiland, Gloria's mother; several aunts and uncles from Chicago; and former Holiday Hills residents Helen and Ed Grant and their family from Oysta! Lake. Gloria prepared dinner for twenty and although she must have been a little tired come Monday morning, it certainly was a very pleasant weekend for all of them and Jeff received many fine gifts David, Joey, Jan and Lori traveled up to the home of Joe's folks, Jim and Liz Emmons, in Holcombe, Wis., for Easter. It was also a very special day as it was Grandma Emmons' bir thday on Easter Sunday. With Joe's three brothers and three sisters also present plus twenty-two loving grand children, the Emmons home was overflowing with happy relatives. They all enjoyed a delicious dinner and it certainly was a nice way to all get together and celebrate Easter and Grandma's birthday. DINNER AND THEATER PARTY Saturday, April l, proved to be a very enjoyable evening for all cf the Karafa family on Hickory street. Wally, Joyce, Guy and Troy; Wally's mother, Mrs. Ethel Karafa,and Wally's sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vic ha, went to theater in the round, had a delicious dinner and saw the musical "Show Boat". They had ringside seats and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and performance. BACK HOME AGAIN For a little guy only four months old, he sure has had his problems, and seen his share of hospital rooms and we sin cerely hope that now everything will be much better for him and his family. On Feb. 29, little Raime Lee Tackitt was operated on in Shriners Hospital in Chicago at the tender age of three months old. He was there for two weeks and came home on March 9. On March 27, he entered St. Theresa's Hospital in Waukegan, for a second operation and came home on Easter Sunday, April 2. Anxiously waiting for him were his big brothers, Robie and Jimmie, and a huge basket from the Easter BMUNNY. Jim and Lorna Tackitt report that he's progressing nicely now and we all pray that this will be his final jaunt to the hospital. Rte. 120 McHenry pqum 815-385-7220 BUT® AUTO ACCIDENT "St. Christopher" must have been riding in the back of Mabel White's car on Wed nesday morning, March 29, as while driving to work, she was involved in a head-on collision on Roberts Road and although the car was completely demolished, she escaped with just minor injuries . She still has a very sore knee and quite a few black and blue spots, but the whole White family is very grateful as things could have been much worse and feel Mabel was very fortunate. BIRTHDAY - REUNION - WELCOME HOME The Mahon family, Bill Mary Ann, Debbie, Billy ana Julia drove in to Midlothian, last Saturday, April 8, for a combination birthday, family reunion and welcome home party. They went to Mary Ann's aunt's house, Mrs. Sophie Sasso, as it was her birthday. Also present were Mary Ann's mother, Mrs. Julia Rach- walski; Mary Ann's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. John Griffith and their eight children from An- dulsia, whom she has not seen fcr quite some time; and another cousin, Mr. and Mrs, v George Fetrakis, and their ^daughter, Theresa, from 'Midlothian. George returned from Vietnam just two weeks ago. Dinner was served to approximately twenty-five relatives and it really was a very nice family get-together. FLOWER GIRL AT WEDDING April 8 will long be remembered by little Janet Stanchuk and her family as Wally, Norma, Donna, Linda, Steve and Rick Oesinger, their guest proudly watched her march down the aisle of St. Hilary's church on N. Bryn Mawr avenue in Chicago as the flower girl in the wedding party of her godmother, Vita-Jo Gugliotta. Attired in a beautiful nile green dress trimmed in white lace, Janet looked very sweet carrying a basket ol assorted flowers. Following the 4p.m. service, a cocktail party and reception was held with a delicious dinner being served at the American Legion hall on N. Lincoln Avenue in honor of the new bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Norris. Among many guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas of Griswold Lake Hills. Mrs. Thomas is an aunt to the new bride. Dancing followed the dinner hour and a wonderful time was had by all who at tended. EASTER SUNDAY VISIT Marge and Harvey Beth of Holiday Drive drove to her sister and brother-in-law's home in Dwight, for the Easter holiday. They are Mr. and Mrs. A. Marquardt. While there, they enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner - seems as if turkey was the "in" thing to have this Easter - and the company of relatives. H.H.P.O.A. NEWS The Holiday Hills Property Owners Association, at their last meeting on April 10, as their most most important item of business, voted out the old set of by-laws, and adopted the new by-laws. The new set of by laws was written by Craig Stackhouse with the help of the unit directors. Dues for the year are still $20 per family, and $10 for every vacant lot maintained by the subdivision. Bills will be sent out in the near future, and the dues are payable either yearly or quarterly. As far as the condition of our roads, nothing can be done as far as road grading, until the roads dry up. So in the meantime, we will put up with the washboards, and hope the weatherman is good to us. ;; LITTLE LEAGUE NEWS , Due to the inclement weather last weekend, Little League try-outs were cancelled. They will be held this Saturday, April 15, at the grade school in Island Lake from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In case of rain, they will be held on Sunday.
