Mrs. Haddick became a member cf Beta Sigma Phi International in December of 1944and was active in sorority, church, Junior Women's club, P.T.A., Y.W.C.A. and 4-H in Rock Island prior to moving to this area. In McHenry, Mrs. Haddick is serving as sorority treasurer and soon will be installed as president. She is a member of the McHenry Women's club, the Ladies society of the Lutheran church and a member of the board of McHenry managers who organized the Lake region unit cf Church Women United. Mrs. Haddick joined the banking profession several years ago and is now a teller in a Fax Lake bank. FASHION SHOW "Return to Romance" is the theme chosen for St. Thomas Women's club spring luncheon and fashion show which will be held Wednesday, Arpil 26, at noon in Loras hall at the Oak street church in Crystal Lake. PLAINDEALER PHOTO Recognize Committee For Style Show Success Pi Alpha Names "Girl Of The Year MRS. WM HADDICK Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met recently and named Mrs. William Haddick as the 1971-72 "girl cf the year". The honor is bestowed on the sorority sister who is loyal to her church, her sorority and serves her com­ munity. Mr. and Mrs. Haddick and their four children moved to McHenry in August of 1970. Installation of new officers and initiation of new members cf St. Agatha Junior Court, No. 777, Johnsburg, took place April 10. The meeting and pot- luck supper was held at the Community club hall. The newly installed officers were escorted to their places by special conductors, Cindy Mann and Barbara Schmitt. Officers installed were: President, Stephanie Hiller; Mrs. Kent Truckenbrod, co- chairman of the recent Newcomers style show last week gave special recognition to the committee and members who contributed to its success. Heading the committee were Mesdames Jim Basak, Carl Grinstead, P A. Hamilton, William Sterka, Roy Frieband Dave Wiese. The monthly business meeting cf the Town & Country Newcomers club was held last week at Shepherd of the Hilte Lutheran church. Mrs. Carl Grinstead, president, in­ troduced guests, Msdames Gary Garde, James Walters, Robert Thompson and Gary Siegel. Mrs. Grinstead presented Mr. and Mrs. Rich Paulsen with a token of appreciation for. donating the many hours necessary to compile the Newcomers cook book. As the books are sold, proceeds will be donated to the Pioneer center, to be useu in the building fund. Anyone wishing to purchase a cook book may contact any Newcomer member or the Pioneer center. Summer bowling chairman, Mrs. Basak, announced that women's morning leagues will be starting in May. Any in­ terested Newcomer member should contact her. Mrs. William Boyle, club vice-president, informed members of the need for volunteers to assist with the Helping Paws fund raising. Helping Paws, Inc., is in the process cf opening a much needed animal shelter for the lost and unwanted animals in the area. Following f'the business meeting, refreshments were served by the club hostess, Mrs. William Sterka. Members and guests enjoyed "crazy" cards, with prizes being awarded Mrs. Gary Siegel and Mrs. Kent Truckenbrod. Mrs. Roger Gillespie won the special prize. Robert Wahls WedSaturday To Barbara Conway A wedding of interest was solemnized in Trinity Lutheran church Saturday, April 15, when Barbara Ann Conway of 2105 Crane court, Rolling Meadows, exchanged nuptial vows with Robert J. Wahls of 914 S. River road, McHenry Pastor Carl Thrun officiated at the 5:30 afternoon services. Barbara Ann is the daughter of Mr. a nd Mrs Jack Conway of Rolling Meadows and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Robert A Wahls of McHenry A special musical arrangement of "Oh Perfect Love" was presented by soloist Betty Nein in a church decorated with an altar bouquet of white and yellow mums and pomps. The pretty bride chose a floor length gown of satin and lace fashioned with a lace bodice, long lace sleeves and a satin skirt. Her floor length illusion veil was bordered with lace trim She carried a cascading bouquet cf white carnations, yellow garnet roses and baby's breath. Barbara Mueller of Atlanta, Ga.,attended the bride as maid cf honor Bridesmaids were LuAnn Friska of Addison, Carolyn Costello of Rolling Meadows, the bride's sister, Susan Conway, of Rolling Meadows and Rhonda Wahls of McHenry,a sister cf the groom. Little Donna Costello of Rolling Meadows, was flower girl. The attendants were attired in floor length dresses of yellow chiffon and taffeta styled similar to the bride's gown. The bridesmaids carried nosegays cf white carnations and yellow and orange pomps. The flower girl carried a basket of similar flowers. Michael Wahls of McHenry, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Ken Fredricks cf DesPlaines, Dave Muchow of Valparaiso, Ind , Leroy Sennett and a cousin of the groom, John Krohling of Muskego, Wis. The grown graduated from Valparaiso university in June cf 1971 and is now working as a mechanical engineer for Freed man Seating company, Evans ton. After a one-week wedding trip to Hawaii, the newlyweds will make their home at 306 S. Milwaukee, Wheeling. Hold Fun Fair At Johnsburg On Saturday The Johnsburg elementary school will be the scene of the annual P.T O. Fun Fair Saturday, April 22. The public is invited to attend between the hours of 2 and 8 p.m. Features will be a spook house, booths, including darts, rings, gold fish, etc., a roller coaster and a country store, among others. Front street, McHenry, became the bride of Allen G Freund of 3708 W Freund avenue, McHenry They repeated their nuptial vows before Rev Joseph Kulak at the 2:30 double ring ceremony The bride is the daughter of Earl Schultz of McHenry and Mrs. Gloria Schultz of 1800 N Sunset drive, McHenry. The groom's parents are Mr and Mrs. Irvin Freund of McHenry. Given in marriage by her father, the lovely bride chose a full length gown of white crystalette and alencon lace enhanced with pearl trim. The gown featured a high neckline, fitted waist, short double bell- shaped sleeves, an A-line skirt and a detachable cathedral length train trimmed with alencon lace Her shoulder length illusion veil was at­ tached to an alencon lace camelot headpiece enhanced with pearl and crystal beads. Bridesmaids were Jan Harris cf McHenry, Diane Oeffling of Johnsburg and Mrs. Robert Mrachek cf Rockford, a sister of the bridegroom. Little Tammy Schultz, the bride's sister, was flower girl. The attendants wore full length gowns of dotted Swiss trimmed with Venice lace, fashioned with high necklines and long full sleeves. The matron cf honor was attired in mint green and the bridesmaids ami flower girls wore oivhid gowns. Matching picture hats completed their ensembles. Each carried a basket filled with mixed colored flowers. Tom Adams of McHenry, a friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groom­ smen were Paul Pitzen, Jr., of Johnsburg, the groom's b r o t h e r - i n - l a w , R o b e r t Mrachek of Rockford and the bride's brother, Kelvin Schultz, of McHenry. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the American Legion hall, McHenry, for 160 friends and relatives. The wedding book was circulated at the reception by Bonnie Kuechel.
