BIRTHDAYS Kaster Sunday was a special day for Mrs. Bleich as it hap­ pened to be her birthday. To help her celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Schuhkneckt of Benton Harbor, Mich , Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schmalback of Itasca, and Mr. and Mrs. Graves Sch­ malback of Rolling Meadows and their families all gathered round in the Bleich home. They had a very enjoyable time. On April 23, Pearl Zabroski will be celebrating her bir­ thday. Belated and best wishes to both Mrs. Bleich and Pearl on their day. Many Churches Participate In Clothing Appeal Many churches in McHenry county are taking part in the Church World Service clothing appeal currenUy in progress. All material collected at local churches is to be taken to the clothing depot in the First Presbyterian church in Woodstock Friday or Saturday, May 19 or 20, Art Dillon, local coordinator, announced. Church World Service, the cooperative relief agency of twenty-eight denominations, processes and ships the clothing and blankets wherever there is acute need. Large shipments recently went to the disastrous flood area in West Virginia and to care for refugees from the war ir. Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan. New or used blankets and all types of light weight clothing are urgenUy needed. Donations of cash are also needed. It costs IN CLOSING Now that the weather is warming up a bit, the time has come for parents to warn their children about playing on the roads. Johnson, 1003 Hampton court, McHenry, is among over 7,000 Indiana university Bloomington un­ dergraduate students who will be honored for scholastic achievement April 19 at the university's annual Founders Day ceremony. The honor students are those who made the Deans' lists the second semester of last year (1970-71) or the first semester of this school year (1971-72), or both. To make a Dean's list, fresh­ men had to earn a 3.3 grade average or higher, based on an all-A average of 4, and carry a minimum of 12 hours of course work. For other un­ dergraduates, the average had to be 3.5 or higher. McHenry Woman Named director Of Local AORT Officers and directors of the newly-organized Suburban West chapter of the Association cf Operating Room Technicians were elected at its second meeting held recently. They are president, Betty Bens ton, Central DuPage hospital; vice- president, Pat Huizinga, Silver Cross hospital; secretary, Linda Heekin, Elmhurst hospital and treasurer, Grace Lippert, Elmhurst. Elected as directors were Catherine Cross of Elmhurst hospital; Michael Davis of Woodstock hospital, Diane Fleming of Central Dupage hospital, Joyce O'Brien of St. Joseph hospital, Elgin and VaJ Patterson of McHenry hospital. The organization, formed in March, is dedicated to con­ tinuing education and upgrading educational stan­ dards in the OR technician field.
