"National Senior Citizens Month", to place workers 40 years and older in gainful jobs, stated Mrs. Cleo C. Liepitz, employment office manager at the Elgin ISES office. This is an opportune time to again take cognizance of the Federal Age Discrimination Law of 1967 which protects individuals 40 to 65 years old from age discrimination in employ ment. Employers are asked to give workers 40 years of age and older an equal opportunity to compete for available jobs. When employed, these men and women are considered productive, adaptable, ef ficient, loyal and dependable. Many employers attest to the fact that older workers possess top skills and job know-how, they are absent less, waste less time, need less supervision and are less distracted by outside interests and influences. Productive employment in today's society means more than just economic in dependence and an acceptable standard of living. It provides a source of dignity, prestige, personal well-being and self respect. Hiring and holding older workers is a matter of sound business How can you get older workers who are both willing and able to work? Call the Elgin office of the Illinois State Employment Service, (312-741- 8100), and you will be supplied with workers to fill job vacancies on the basis of ability - not age Mid-Town Mayor PU&L/C OP/h/IOti /S PEOPLE POWER Jh/AT WORKS/ SOFT WATER SOFT WATER SOFT WATER SOFT WATER Tom Huemann Water Conditioning Service on all Makes Sales-Rental 385-3093 SALT DELIVERY SOFT WATER SOFT WATER -SOFT WATER SOFT WATER remodeled and redecorated while at the corner of Waukegan street and Route 61 there is a new service station being built by the Standard Oil company TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of May 15, 1947) Mrs John B Jackson, a native of Johnsburg, passed away at her home in Grass I^ke, May 13, following an extended illness She was 66 years old McHenry musicians returned home from Charleston, III., late Saturday evening with three first places, three second places and one third as the result of their participation in the state finals for Class C. schools.
