MAY 11th Mia Farrow in 1 Seems we waited forever for our "Brenda" to issue a special invitation - and sell us tickets ~ to the McHenry Choral Club spring program. Last time we told her we were attending as a newspaper critic. Then, darned if we could think of anything but good things to say about the program and the exceptional talent in the group. Since they shortened those programs we wouldn't miss. There was a time when "Brenda" was competing with Gone With The Wind for distance. We got tired. So is George Thompson! Two caterpillars were crawling across the grass when a butterfly flew over them. They looked up, and one nudged the other and said: "You couldn' t get me up in one of those things for a million dollars!" Joe Pepitonej has quit baseball for his saloon and salon (Wigs). We don't think they should try to get him back - not that we don't think he has some good baseball left in his bones. But, now everything is rosy. For a buck you can't go wrong. So -- this weekend - Sat., and Sun , -- the curtain will roll back in the West Campus auditorium. We (the Missus, and Yours Truly) will be there. Two of McHenry's finest, Officers Jim Keevil and Dan Kinnerk, are hard to live with since the Cubs walloped those broken down Braves. If he is disenchanted with the game, his decision is correct. In the meantime, there seems to be nothing wrong with Jim Hickman's first basing or his hitting. He has carried the club on his back in the past and deserves a good shot at the job. America has become so tense and nervous it has been years since I've seen anyone asleep in church -- and that is a sad situation. Norman Vincent Peale. The Warrior victory their 4th, gave them more victories for a season than any team in recent' tennis history had compiled in an entire season. Congratulations are in order for this fine group of young men as they look ahead now to the conference match. McHENRY COUNTY COUGARS xxiooaooooaocopoooBc a* The Waukegan Marathons invaded Spojnia Polish Camp Sunday where they defeated the Cougars in a close game by a score of 4-2. At half time the score was tied 1-1, and it was not 'till the end of the second half that the Marathons were able to leave the field vic torious. Although the Cougars lost their second pre season game, there were some fine individual performances. George Taylor made some fine saves in goal. Finn Nor, and Frank Lopez scored the goals for the Cougars. However, it was the whole defensive unit playing together as a team that made the difference. They constantly pulled the Marathons off-side, turning the game around to their advantage. Next Sunday the Cougars will meet the Highland Parkers at Spojnia Polish Camp. Game time 2 p.m. The public is in-v vited. High school students, college* students or any other persons in McHenry county interested in joining the McHenry county Cougars, call 385-8485 after 6 p.m. or meet us at Spojnia Polish Camp on McCullon Lake on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. for practice. By Fred Kusch MCHS baseball stalwarts dropped one of the more im portant games of the season as they dropped a 14 inning con test to the Dundee Cardunals 6- 4. The Warriors scored all their runs early in the ball game as they pushed them across in the fourth inning. The story was over when the Cards scored after one was out on Behm's 2 run homer in the 14th. The Warriors last victory was against the Elgin Maroons as they whipped them 5-2 Monday. The Orange and Black hammered home 5 runs in the early innings as the first four hitters in the order accounted for the first four runs. Stanek hurled fine ball for the Warriors as he allowed 5 hits to the Maroons. «BOX SCORE McHenry, 4 - Dundee, 6 ab h r rbi Rogers 2b 6 3 DeCicco cf 4 Miller p Knaack p Prazak If Wickenkamp ss Habich 3b Karafa lb Steinsdorfer rf Claypool c Connell ph 46 10 4 3 McHenry, 5 Rogers 2b DeCicco If Miller 3b Prazak If Wickenkamp ss Habich rf Karafa lb Stanek p Claypool c Elgin, 2. 4 Score by innings Miller 8.1 6 4 11 4 0 1 Knaack 5.2 4 2 5 3 1 0 Gerdall 10.1 8 4 5 3 0 0 Richardson 32205000 Winning pitcher: Knaack Losing pitcher: Gerdall Stanek Taylor Roth 7 5 25 2 1 4 6 2 1 Winning pitcher: Stanek Losing pitcher: Taylor American Legion Baseball - Wonder Lake McHENRY Mcl l en rv ,111 . 144 STARTS FRIDAY MAY 5 NdwfcJxfc Nktofcon.
