This parade was the first of a long season of parados and com petitions, after a winter of very hard work on music and maneuvering drills. To prove their hard work was worthwhile, in their first drum and bugle corps competition of the year in Wheeling April 9, the Viscounts brought home a first place trophy, topping six other corps. The corps also has been on exhibition in West Chicago and was represented through a few of their members in the May 6-7 McHenry Choral club concert. A very busy season is under way for this fine group of boys and girls and their outstanding staff of instructors. The staff is headed by Manager Bob Wiles, with John Schultz as assistant manager. Horn instructors are Trey Covalt, John Zimney and Chris Ferrara. Drum instructor is Gary Wiegman. Ed Hey ward is in charge of personnel, quar termaster is Jack Barnett, and in charge of music and maneuvering is Jim Lingen- felter. Jay Osmond is manager of the color guard, with John Goettsche and Jim Lingenfelter as instructors. The Viscounts are out standing goodwill ambassadors for McHenry county who need the support of the public to continue their good work.
