Miss Knox was also presented with a beautiful charm bracelet in appreciation of her many years of service as an instructor in the Landmark and Edgebrook schools. Miss Knox began her teaching career in 1915 and has been a member of School District 15 faculty since 1929. When the Society of Dog Owners in Hamburg polled 200 of its members it found that dog owners seek the same qualities in their pets as in friends. Outdoors men, for example, are likely to choose larger, more aggressive breeds -- sheepdogs, St. Bernards, Mastiffs, Great Danes and Newfoundlands -- while quiet, stay-at-home types prefer Cocker Spaniels. Dachshunds, the survey shows, are usually owned by tolerant, "Contented" people, and, families with children. The latter also rate Boxers high for their friendliness and playfulness with children. Poodles are preferred by "society types and women of elegance," while non­ conformists frequently choose mongrels for pets.
