i Preview Of Fun Fair Fair Diddley Day is set for this Sunday, May 21, from noon until dusk, when the Woodstock City Square will be brimming with all the fun and excitement of a real old-fashioned country fair. "And we would like to express our appreciation to all the county businesses and residents who have so generously donated their time, talents and goods toward the fair's success." There will also be handcrafted decorative items - candles, decoupage, beaded flowers and dry or artificial flower arrangements. The auxiliary will have two special booths - Crafts will feature a variety of items along with the handmade hostess aprons; and a Garden Booth, with flats of flower and vegetable plants. The Little People Boutique will feature a collection of nearly-new infants' and children's apparel up to size 6X. Antique-seekers and bargain hounds can pass hours looking through the potpourri of this year's White Elephant collection and stacks of used books and records. Curious clowns will be strolling by selling balloons. Kid's mouths will be sticky with cotton candy, and their faces will be painted to look as funny as they want them when they march in the Kiddie Costume parade. A Dixieland band will lead the way around the Square. Any minute, they will be announcing the next round of the Woodstock Cakewalk championship. So many other games to see and play with prizes for everyone. There will be a lollipop tree, a fishing pond, and more challenging game booths for older children. Girls and boys will toot around town in their own mini-train, or climb aboard a red wagon pulled by a team of black Shetland ponies. Owners, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. But now with very rapid transit, it comes to us even fresher and sweeter, for it can be more nearly ripe when shipped. Fresh pineapple makes ex cellent pies. Every good cook's file should include a recipe for fresh pineapple pie. Fresh Pineapple Pie 1 recipe double crust pastry for (9-inch) pie Z2 cup sugar 3 tablespoons corn starch '/i teaspoon salt z /3 cup water '/4 cup lemon juice 1 medium pineapple, pared and diced (about 3 12 cups) Milk Sugar Mix together sugar, corn starch and salt in 2 quart sauce pan. Stir in water, lemon juice and pineapple. Cook over me dium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens, comes to a boil and boils 2 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Line the bottom of a 9 inch pie pan with y2 of the pastry. Turn pineapple mixture into pastry lined pan. Roll out top crust, cut slits to allow for escape of steam and lay over filling. Seal and flute edge. Brush with milk; sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a 425° F. (hot) oven 30 to 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
