Mr. Bonham, who is also an or­ dained minister, will take his bfer examination July 19. ; Winifred Benwell, 12 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Benwell, received severe in­ juries when she fell several feet while at play in the barn on the Benwell farm. Summer Bible School at Ringwood started Monday morning with Wayne Foxx, Dorothy Peet and Ellen Smith as teachers. It will last two weeks. «John Fay, who has been attending Northwestern University, Chicago, received Ws Bachelor of Science degree at the commencement exer­ cises Monday. Friends visited Mrs. Sarah Sherburn in the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Harrison, near Ringwood. Mrs. Sherburne will be 100 years old in August. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of June 19, 1947) Sixty members of the ninety piece youth orchestra of greater Chicago had their picnic and outdoor rehearsal at the Baird farm south of McHenry last Sunday. The orchestra made up of out­ standing musicians from the Chicago and outlying schools came here at the request of Mr Baird who is one of the organizations sponsors. Harold Finch, of Highland Park is director of the group. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Yanda, on the in- vitiation of Mr. Finch, attended the rehearsal. Hie "Charm House", for­ merly the Sex real estate office in Lily Lake, opened for business recently under die ownership of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Booster and Mrs. Myrtle Booster. The new business is a combined ice cream parlor and sandwich shop. Miss Nellie Doherty and Mrs. Jennie Mae Richardson are enjoying a trip through the South and East. Miss Marguerite Johnson completed her year of teaching at Wheaton last week and left for Boulder, Colo., where she will attend summer school. Mrs. {Catherine McAndrews Pape of McHenry completed training May 19 at Henrotin hospital school of Nursing, Chicago. A lovely summer wedding was solemnized at St. John's church, Johnsburg, on Saturday, June 14, when Miss Bernice King of Johnsburg became the bride of Mr. Eugene LaFontaine of Fostoria, Ohio. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of June 21, 1962) Sandra Fairchild became the new honored queen of Bethel 98, International Order of Job's Daughters of McHenry on June 16, when installation of officers was held. Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the pretty wedding June 16 at St. Mary's church which united in marriage, Miss Dee Ann Hester and Mr. John Arnold Freund. Mrs. Vivian Smith of John­ sburg was named "Woman Bowler of the Year" at the Johnsburg Bowling lanes and was awarded a trophy. The McHenry Moose lodge will celebrate its tenth an­ niversary Sunday, June 24, starting with a breakfast for old and new members, in the af­ ternoon lunch and organ music, in the evening, buffet supper followed by dancing. Pvt. Ronald A. Miller of Wonder Lake took as his bride pretty Miss Judy Wielock in a ceremony performed in the County Choral Belles Seek New Members McHenry County Choral Belles, area prospective members of Sweet Adelines, International, have become increasingly enthusiastic and active since their formation in March. The group, a har­ monious blending of voices singing the good old songs, has entertained listeners at the McHenry Chamber of Com­ merce trade fair, Fair Diddley in Woodstock and is now preparing to sing for members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church in McHenry June 10. Sweet Adelines, Inc., is a non­ profit civic group, a barbershop harmony organization for women. It is designed to promote harmony, to entertain in its area and to educate its members of the art of four-part harmony, barbershop style. This local group which meets every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran church on Rt. 47 has rapidly grown in membership from eight to twenty-threee members. The girls are all ages who say they "have a ball" singing together and are anxious to gain more members in order to make the musical sounds they produce even richer and more har­ monious. Anyone who likes to sing and is interested in learning what Sweet Adelines do should call Mrs. William J. Funk or come to the next meeting.
