Jeff Rhode. Mtke Miller and Don Smith have finished the bear book and received the bear badge and pin The new denner for Den 7 will be John Armon and the assistant denner will be Scott Rehberg. Rich West received a scout knife at the Scout-O- Rama A special event of the evening was the presentation of Den Leader Training Awards. Jim Kirk presented the certificates to Ruth Roach and Violet West. One year pins were given to Jo Ann McAndrews, Joan Bauer, Marlene Smith, Phyllis Venable, Mary Schaan, Peggy Lawrence. Karen Marino, Karen Gies, Maria Tonyan, Pat Miller, Marge Boro, Cass Rhode, Mike Sabatka, Bill Weber, Jerry Sharp and Ron Creutx. Two year pins were presented to Ruth Roach, Violet West, Dave Nylander, Bob Belzer and Bill Miller. Den 6 won the Cubby Award but since they had won it before, Den 5 received the honor of having the Cubby Award. The special guest for the evening was John Schweder who is the park ranger for McHenry Dam State Park. Mr. Schweder collects Indian ar­ tifacts and brought them along to show to the boys. Included in his collection are a rock to grind com, a tanning tool, a skinning tool, a knife, an Indian hoe, an arrow head, a medicine man necklace and many others. •Mr. Schweder promised to come back in the fall and show the scouts some nature slides. SWIMMING LESSONS If you missed the registration for the Red Cross swimming lessons, there are still a few openings. Everyone enjoyed the fresh air and' sunshine and the chance to meet old friends FAREWELL PARTY Beverly Walinski and Gerry Wagner planned the surprise farewell party for the Kalva family, which was held at the lakeland Park Community House on Saturday, June 17. Jana and Tony Kalva and their daughter, Julie, will be moving to Wheeling. They have lived in our community for nine years. The dinner was an Italian festival. The Kalvas received as a going away present a weather station Mr. and Mrs G. Foszcz journeyed from Fox Lake to attend the partv. Also attending were the Winkowski family, the Rebel family, Mary and Ray Barle, the Shulda family, Mr. and Mrs. Olzewski, Hal and Pat Brunow, Mr. and Mrs. John Saville, Mr. and Mrs. George Bargo, Dick and Beverly Walinski and Lloyd and Gerry Wagner.
