No definite wedding date has been set. T'other day I neard a man a goin' on about "Women's Lib," an' it wuz a bit encouragin', the altitude he took, bringin' t' attention the fact that, not long ago, women were treated like women, most generally. Men tad some regard fer the sex, we respectfully called "Ladies," and' in moat cases the female on wuz one t' be proud of. litis gentleman, fer that's what he is, reminded us that •wn gave a seat t' a lady, opened doors fer her, helped her wi' her packages she may bo a totin', assistin' wherever the need might^be, t' make it easier for her. I remember how ttrings wuz when I wuz young, an' the gradual change in at titude, o'er the years, an' the women 're t' blame fer the whole thing. Men didn't want women t' be common, in any walk o' life, an' *e may not realize it, 'r want t' believe it, but men need t' have the women take a part in life t' uphold the standards o' , civilized life. They need t' have ' their women t' set the example; an' the reason fer their, so- called, discrimination, wuz inspired by the psychological need t' discourage the women in a tryin't' be man's equal, fer the simple fact that she wuz, naturally, his superior, made oo, by ol' Mother Nature. Man has abused women, throughout the history o' mankind, in many instances, I'll grant ye, but underneath it all, there existed an envy, an' a certain regard fer what a real woman is. Woman was on a stal, from which she has toppled by her own hand. I wonder if she'll ever be able t' climb back, t' where she lo worshipped by man, again. Not bein' able t' understand, women have undermined man's inner confidence, which ohe should have borne up, kept Ma ego alive, 'cause ego is the male commodity, necessary t' development. Quench a man's ego an' ye end up wi' somethin' in between a real man an' the feminine product. Keep it alive an' feed it, an' see what won ders are performed. Sad it is, that ye cain't tell eome men from the women, an* somehow, seems that the men *rea tryin't' reach the pinnacle that women held, once upon a time. It's all psychological reaction. I'm a ho pin' that, as the man said, there jist might be a chance th^t society '11 git bock, once again, t' where women '11 want t' be up on that pedestal, once more. Give her enough respect, attention, love an' consideration, an' no woman'd be champin' at the bit t' git away. Havin' had t' pervide fer meself an' little 'uns, many a day, I wished fer a chance t' take a woman's rightful place, makin' a home fer her man, a cookin' good things fer the family, an' jist bein' what God intended her f be, "Keeper o' the home." There's a lot o' women who prefer a career, an' more power to 'em, but the women, makin' sich a big fuss, many o' 'em need t' be home, a doin' the job they took on when they said their vows at the altar. Now, you an' I know that work done, by any human bein', deserves the same remuneration, accordin' t' production, an' these things need correctin'. But, don't fergit, the basic reasons fer a keepin' women down wuz, un consciously, t' pervent her from takin' the men's world away from 'em. An' don't fergit, either,, that a big male hang-up, since the beginnin' o' time, wuz the fact that women c'n give birth, the most wonderful experience that there is. So, why not let the men have their ego, why not allow 'em t' keep the reigns on the business world, an' git behind 'em, an' in our* subtle little wavs. affect entire society, by insprin' men V do the best job they're able t' turn out. Why not make 'em feel like kings, an' the women, jist may feel like queens, once more. Women c'n make success out o' failure, endure more har dship than the opposite sex, are the best managers, philosophers in action, an' psychologists, if they work on it a bit, an' give 'emselves a chance t' learn t' enjoy the role. There's two sexes, t' deal wi', an' there alius will be, so' why not build men, 'stead o' weaklin's, who have t' depend on guns in order t' assert their manhood. Women c'n change the world, jist by a bein' what God in tended, man's helpmate.
