Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The delicious menu includes half a grilled .chicken, cold slaw, potato salad and a roll and honey. There is no increase in price this year. The Jaycee auxiliary will also be serving cold drinks and desserts. A new feature this year will be phone order service." The McHenry answering service has offered to take orders by phone and to relay them to the city park by radio. This will not only speed service for those who plan to eat in the park but will also help those wishing to take dinners home to the family. Phone orders will be taken at 385-3934!! The Jaycees have also added another grill, which will help to speed service. All proceeds from this event will be used by the Jaycees for external projects such as picnic benches for the park, a scholarship program and a junior track club. Jean Bird and Cat Hooter draw a bead oil Leo the Lion at the Northern Illinois Bowmen safari. 3-D Safari Planned For Big Weekend The Northern Illinois Bowmen's fifteenth annual 3-D safari will be held in con junction with the Marine Festival, Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and closes at 1 p.m. Sunday. This pretty young Bowmen member holds 14-inch monkey against a background of 14-foot elephant target. For the all-trophy shoot there will be first, second and third place trophies in all usual classes. They will be presented by the Marine Queen at 4:30 Sunday. Targets include a 14-foot tall 3-D elephant, * swinging monkeys, striking cobras, spinning spiders and swimming carp. There will be a two-night camp-out on the grounds, located one mile west of McHenry, just off Rt. 12, on Draper road. Thrills . At Ski Show Checker Board Squares Host Festival Dance Remember the old saying, "If at first you don't succeed"? This could well apply to the large crowd of friendly folks who came out last July to try a little square dancing in the city park, only to be suddenly whisked away by a deluge of ram before the evening had really started. . The old saying continues, "try, try again", and the Checker Board Squares hope the public will do just that and report to the park Friday, July 21, from 8 to 11 o'clock in the McHenry city park for an evening of fun and healthful activity. Two fine callers will be on hand to lead dancers expertly. This free dance is for both dancers and non-dancers, and is part of the week long festivities saluting the Land of Lincoln. The Checker Board Squares will also be taking part in the big parade Sunday, July 23. It will be thrills in great numbers at the Chicagoland Water Ski association program to be presented Sunday, July 23, in con junction with Marine Festival day in McHenry. Kite flyers will be in abundance, as well as the many other ski experts who will provide excitement {for the hundreds who throng the beach area. The water show! follows the parade, at about 4 o'clock, near the city beach. o Offer Free Blood Pressure / Screening Sunday On Marine Festival day, the Heart association will have a free blood pressure screening at Europa Motors, Inc., show rooms, 3318 W. Pearl street, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nurses will be present to conduct the screening. The program is under the chair manship of Homer FitzGerald for this particular day. FitzGerald said there were 200 blood pressure screenings taken in four hours at Har vard's Milk Day. The Illinois Heart association points out that the greatest danger from hypertension usually lies in not knowing that it is present and not undergoing treatment if it is present. These young, Ealented Christian " students are presenting their witness of Jesus Christ in song and testimony throughout the north central United States. Although each member is a hardworking full time student,; they each find time to share with others that Person which they believe is the answer to the Harrison Music Students Plan Summer Band Richard Mikus, supervisor of music at Harrison school in Wonder Lake, states that final plans are made for the music pressing problems of today's society. Each is a member of the Moorhead, Mii^k, chapter of I n t e r - V a r s i t y C h r i s t i a n Fellowship, which is a non- denominational organization actively involved in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with college students. The Freeway Singers are .under the direction of Jim O s v o l d , f o r m e r s o l o i s t a n d drummer for the Kingsmen of Concordia college in Moorhead, Minn., which was recently on a four-month nation-wide tour of the eastern U.S. under the endorsement of the Evangelism office of the American Lutheran church. A free-will offering will be taken to cover the "expenses of the group, and they will also be selling their recently released stereo album entitled "Free" at the concert. students from Harrison and the McHenry county area to attend summer band at Lake Geneva starting Julv 30 and running one week. The student musicians who went last year are all planning on returning again and of course, all the beginning band students are making plans to go. The week will consist of planned music instruction; supervised recreation in cluding boating, swimming, games and of course, good food. The bus will leave Harrison school at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 30, and will return to the school on the following Saturday morning. There will be an all-camp concert on Friday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. All parent^ are invited to attend. Mikus states there are still some vacancies and wishes to extend an invitation to any student musician in the area to sign up and go. The cost is very reasonable. For further in formation, he may be called at 653-2791. Mikus also states that the Harrison school recording which was made in May will be delivered soon. The response to the record was quite good and many were sold. Some very fine music will be heard when the records are delivered.
