He. was born in Iowa City, la., Aug. 20, 1892. He had lived at 932 Shiloh Boulevard, Zion. Mr. DeVore had been in manufacturing and McHenry Country Club In the finals of the presidents' tournament played at the club on Sunday, July 23, Gary Adams defeated Don Hojnacki in the class A division of the tournament. Gary shot a fine 74 and ended the match on the 16th hole. "Doc" Gilbert defeated John Falcon in class B and Harold Jensen beat Fred Ballstaedt in class C. In class D Ed Bishoff beat Bob Hoelscher in a match that went right down to the wire. Low net results for Sunday were: Class A - Art Jackson, Bob Andrews, Gary Adams and Bill Gutzmer. Class B - Tom McNulty, Russ Weyland, Ron Waytula. Class JC - Dick Turner and Ed Schulef. On Sunday, July 30, there will be a foitf man team tournament with thf scores being rated on the point system. This tour­ nament will again be in the capable hands of Russ Weyland and his committee. The club championship in both scratch and handicap division will start on Aug. 6 and continue for four weeks ending on Sunday af­ ternoon, Aug. 27. Word is going around that some of the other low scores in the club are going to give Ed and Art quite a battle this year which should make the tour­ nament very interesting. building in McHenry several years ago. Kuhns, 83, of Freeman street, Genoa City, Wis., died July 25 in Mt. Carmel Care Center, Burlington, Wis. He was born July 14, 1889, in Chicago, the 6on of Louis and Mary Richter Kuhns. Employed as a tile setter for construction trade, he retired 16 years ago. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Fisher-Swanson Post of the American Legion, of thei Loyal Order of Moose and Tile betters Union. Among his survivors are his wife, Vera; a son, Walter R. Kuhns of McHenry; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Heft and Mrs. Helen Blank .of Chicago; three brothers, Louis and Earl of Chicago and Robert of Hillside. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the DeVriendt funeral home in Chicago. Interment will be in Irving Park cemetery. The family requests no flowers, please. Local arrangements were made by the Haase-Adams funeral home in Genoa City. ROSELESSARD McHenry friends have received word of the death of Mrs. Rose Lessard on July 4. The deceased made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Maurice (Jane) Panza, in Ir­ vine, Cal., since leaving McHenry a few years ago. While in this city they resided at Emerald Park and later on E. Waukegan Street. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Panza and Rose Peaslee; a sister, Emma LeBeau, all of California and a sister, Sister M. Gerard of Chicago. INVESTIGATE VANDALISM A summer home at 603 North Boulevard, Lakemoor, owned by Barbara Franta of Chicago, was extensively damaged by vandals sometime since July 19. An area resident who had been looking after the home reported that entry had been gained after five windows were broken. The home, which had recently been remodeled, was completely ransacked and considerable damage done to the interior. Holes were pun­ ched in the walls and ceilings, and a divider wall between bedrooms had been completely torn down. An investigation is being made into a report that area youths were in the home. LIGHTS OUT Commonwealth Edison- company spokesman said Thursday morning that in­ terruptions of electrical service about 10 o'clock the previous night were caused by wires burning.
