7 Lakemoor- Alma Hueckstaedt Lilymoor 385-56*09 Cancel August Meeting Because Of Vacations ' Due to summer vacations with so many members and officers away the August meeting has been cancelled. The next general meeting will be held on Sept. 12, at 8 p.m., at the usual meeting place on Glenwood avenue. Mark the date and time on your calendar so you won't forget the meeting. ABIT OF PHILOSOPHY Someone once said "When doesn't give of oneself they become as barnacles on a ship." When a resident doesn't contribute their share towards the upkeep of their roads and their share to have the garbage and refuse removed, they too become like the barnacle, and when there are a great number of barnacles the ship will go down, as will your subdivision and all other residents with you. The Seconal half of the association dues are delinquent. If you haven't paid toward the last half then DO IT NOW. Call Florence Martensen and arrange to get it to her. LAKEMOOR MOVIES Every Friday evening movies are shown at 8 p.m. in the Community hall. Anyone who wishes may attend. Ad mittance is free, as is the popcorn and Kool-aid. Reports are that they have been having a very good turnout for them thus far. For the August 4 program the following movies are scheduled to be shown: - W.C. Fields in "The Phar macist", Laurel and Hardy in "The Music Box", and "Mr. Moto Takes a Walk". If any reader would like to donate popcorn or kool-aid to be used on Friday evenings, please call Ruth Freeman at 385-7293 and make arrangements with her for the pick-up or delivery of said items. It will be appreciated by all concerned. NEWCOMERS In Lilymoor we have new residents at 103 Vernon Drive. PAGE 17-PLAINDEALER-WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2, 1972 Boa Constrictor Is Most Unusual Of 4-H Projects What's the most unusual 4-H project for the County Fair this year? Goats? Cats? Small dogs, or giant dogs? Or birds, cauliflower or small engines? Here's a nomination for Dave Spooner's projectandit'sunder the class: "Do Your Own Thing." The 12-year-old Ridgefield member of the Crystalizers has a boa con strictor. Dave fondles the 42- inch reptile casually, watching him twist, squirm and curl. He became interested in snakes when he lived near a woods and has cultivated this interest by becoming familiar with their habits and eating preferences. His boa con strictor is about 18 months old, and he keeps him in a small cage which Dave explains helps keep down his growth. Dave feeds his project mice and small rats, adding "I raise some of his food!" His pet doesn't bite but he won't guarantee what a boa con strictor might do if you met him in the jungles of South Africa! Dave has two brothers with projects. Jeff, dog care, and Don, rabbits. "Larry" will be one of the star attractions at the McHer>ry County Fair. "Larry" is a 42-inch boa constrictor and is the project of David Spooner. This 4-H project is under the heading of "Do Your Own Thing" and can be seen with the general projects at the Fair.
