(DON PEASLEY PHOTO) Juanita Leanna, 20, a pleasant and mature Wood stock beauty, is the new Miss McHenry County! Today she reigns as the McHenry County Fair queen, earning her title in competition among thirteen beauties from thirteen McHenry county communities during the opening night festivities for the county fair last week. Because of the weather, the contest was shifted to the, Woodstock Opera House where an overflow crowd saw Juanita edge Nancy Stetter, Miss McHenry, for the first place honors. Five finalists were ^named after the candidates appeared in formals and swim suits, with these additional results: Ann Michelsen, Miss Hun tley, sponsored by the Huntley Lions Club, was second runner- up; Vicki Feller, 18, Miss Crystal Lake, sponsored by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, third runner-up; and Kathy Kroncke, 18, Miss Wonder Lake, sponsored by the Women's Club of Wonder Lake, fourth runner-up. The contestants also bestowed an award of their own • Miss Congeniality - to Marengo's vivacious Becky Poison, 17, sponsored by the Marengo V.F.W. and auxiliary. Juanita was sponsored by the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leanna. Juanita is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs 118 pounds and measures 37-23-36. She has dark brown hair and blue eyes. Her love of outdoor sports shows in her beautiful tan and her slender figure. Juanita is in nurse'straining at St. Anthony's School of Nursing at Rockford, where she'll be a senior this fall. Hobbies include riding her own motorcycle, skindiving, swimming and sewing. Miss Stetter, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stetter, was sponsored by the McHenry V.F.W. and auxiliary, Nancy has Monde hair and blue eyes and she's S-71^ inches tall. She's taking training to become an executive secretary. Among prizes Juanita earned is the right to compete in the Miss Illinois County Fair contest at Springfield in January, sponsored by the your candidacy for Governor in March of 1972. 4I never denied this letter, Mr. Walker. Select Miss Christmas Seal Next November The DuPage-McHenry Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease association is seeking nurses to enter the second annual Miss Illinois Christmas Seal contest. The local winner will compete against twelve other regional winners for scholarships amounting to $650. Selection of Miss Illinois Christmas Seal will be made Saturday, Nov. 18, kt a lun cheon in Champaign. She will be a guest of honor at the Illinois-Wisconsin football game that afternoon. Contestants must be single, female, student, registered or licensed practical nurses ranging in age from 17 to 25 and must work or attend school in DuPage or McHenry counties. Judging will be based on poise, personality, appearance and qualifications for representing Illinois on radio, television and in personal appearances during the 1972 TB Christmas campaign. Illinois honorary chairman for the Seal campaign, U.S. Olympic Skating Champion Janet Lynn, and Eddie Albert, national honorary campaign chairman, have been invited to attend Illinois coronation ceremonies and the football game. State-wide prizes will be awarded as follows: first, $300 scholarship plus $100 to win ner's school; second, $100 scholarship, plus $50; third, $75 scholarship, plus $25. Deadline for submitting applications to regional con tests is Sept. 30. Local winners will be selected early in Oc tober. One's intelligence can often be measured by how much he keeps his mouth shut.
