Christmas Home To Be Featured On October 4 'Tis the night before Holiday Hospitality Day and all through the Brodie house, not a creature is stirring-the work is all done and the Christmas workers are all nestled snug in their beds, resting from the big task of making ornaments, favors and figures! The Christmas Workers have been designing and creating all the beautiful and original decoupage ornaments, favors and figures every Tuesday through this year. Materials include felt, glitter, jewels, styrafoam shapes, sewing box findings, magazine pictures, gift paper cut-outs, items salvaged from attics and wastebaskets. Christmas figures and angels have been created of paper-mache' and finished in white, blue, gold, silver and red - many with hand-painted faces. There are Christmas linens, small gift items, wall hangings and candle holders among the completely hand-made items. Everything is hand made, nothing commercially made will be found in this delightful collection of Christmas treasures. The Brodie home is strictly a Christmas house. The Woodstock Children's home auxiliary will hold its first meeting of this season Tuesday, Sept. 19. Members will discuss past and for thcoming fund raising events, and the many projects in which they are involved. During the past two years these women have readily contributed to the Children's home through their annual benefit Bargains Bizarre and with active par ticipation in projects at the home. This year's Bizarre earned $2,800, which was $200 over last year's event. Members now feel that this yearly benefit can justly be called the county's biggest garage sale. Held at Lakewood village hall, the sale attracted people from all over McHenry and the many ad joining counties. Especially popular was the antique section where outstanding buys in glassware, dishes and furniture were found. It has not yet been decided what the proceeds from this year's Bizarre will be used for, but the children at the home have been enjoying the tennis and recreational court which the auxiliary supported from the first year's sale. The Woodstock Children's home auxiliary holds meetings every third Tuesdaytv^wl welcome visitors. Its primte interest is the welfare of the many children at the home. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 19, 8 p.m. at the Children's home main building. For additional information call 338-3929. MR. AND MRS.
