Burglary Brings Two Other ReWew Public Service Charges For McHenry Man Freeman A. Wilkey, Jr., 27, of 512 Emerald drive, McHenry, was charged by county officials with burglary, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of aggravated battery after in vestigation revealed he had burglarized the Snug Harbor Boat club at 801 N. River road, McHetiry. Bond was set at $12,000, with court appearance scheduled for Oct. 2. When an employee of Snug Harbor arrived for work early Sunday morning, he discovered a broken window in the bar room. Evidence indicated that the offender had entered through a screen door on the porch area and used bottles of pop to break the thermopane window which allowed him to reach in and remove three bottles of liquor with pouring spouts. The intruder had in jured himself in the burglary since blood was found leading into the parking area of the club, where one of the liquor bottles was recovered. In checking with McHenry hospital, detectives learned that a man had been treated in the early morning hours for a cut on the arm. He was iden tified as Wilkey. Knowing that Wilkey was wanted by the Sheriff's department for failure to ap pear in court for a previous driving offense, detectives went to Wilkey's home, where they recovered the two remaining liquor bottles. He was taken to the sheriff's office, where he remained belligerent and refused to cooperate when attempts were made to give aid for his earlier injuries. Two charges of aggravated battery resulted. While processing the offender, a quantity of a nar cotic substance was found on his person. Wilkey is now being held in county jail in lieu of bond. Numerous items taken from the JNorbert Konczak home at 45012 Hickoryway drive, McHenry, included an electric typewriter, a monitor radio, a CB radio, a movie projector, and camera, an 8 mm tape recorder, a box of movie film, 2 boxes of 30.06 rifle ammunition and about $40 in cash. The theft occurred early Monday mor ning. When Konczak returned home about 3 a.m., he heard a noise in the bedroom. He went to investigate and saw someone leaving through a bedroom window. The offender got into his car and drove away. A description of the vehicle has been obtained and investigation is continuing. James Heard of 1911 Sun- nyside Beach drive, McHenry, reported that during the early morning hours of Sept. 14, his boat equipped with an outboard motor, was taken from his pier. He located the boat later about one quarter mile away where it had become caught on a tree. However, the motor was missing from the craft. It was described as a three- horsepower outboard Johnson motor. Ruth Franz of 5006 N. Westwood drive, McHenry, told county officials that sometime since Sept. 1, eight studded snow tires mounted on Ford wheels had been taken from the rear porch of her home. Other tires in a nearby area were not disturbed. Immunization Clinic Set For Late September with its own earmarked tax levy. The McHenry County Department of Health is sponsoring its monthly im munization clinic Wednesday morning, Sept. 27, 9 to 11 a.m. at the Health department of fice, 209 North Benton street, Woodstock. Larry A. Swartz of 7401 Woodward, Woodridge, was stopped waiting for the light to change when he was struck from behind. Shackelford stated he was about to make a lane change and glanced back to see if traffic was clear behind him. When he looked back, the Swartz auto had stopped in front of him. Driver of the third car, Walter J. Kozicki of 4320 Clearview, McHenry, was driving behind the Shackelford auto. When he applied his brakes, Kozicki also applied his but he was unable to avoid hitting the Shackelford auto. Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident was the citation issued to Allen M Flucinski of 1809 Sunset, McHenry, after his car ran into the rear of another driven by Diana G. Clough of 801 Washington, Woodstock. The accident occurred Saturday evening about 7:15 at 4512 W. Route 120. The Clough auto was stopped on the highway waiting for another car to make a left turn when it was struck from behind. Flucinski said he saw the Clough auto stop but was unable to stop fast enough to avoid making contact. Thompson of 711 Freeman, Genoa City. She was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after her car struck another driven by John D. Hall of 2701 Pueblo, McHenry. The mishap oc curred at the corner of Rich mond and Maple. Hall had stopped in traffic waiting for the car in front of him to turn west onto Maple when he was hit from behind. Mrs. Thompson stated she saw the Hall car stopping but when she tried to apply her brakes, they failed.
