Oeffling drive, McHenry, both students of McHenry high school west, were accompanied to the conference by Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Williams of the TB association. Anita and Deborah are Student Council representatives. Dr. Harold Levine, head of the chest department at Cook County hospital and president of the Interagency council, delivered the keynote address and challenged students to continue their efforts in for­ mation of INS clubs ("I never started") in schools. Church Will Observe Seventh Anniversary Sunday Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, will celebrate its seventh an­ niversary Sunday, Oct. 1, at both the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services. Every family in the parish is asked to be present at one of the morning services to participate in worship and a rededication service and to receive Holy Communion. The congregation began in 1965 as a mission sponsored by the American Lutheran Church and has grown rapidly in its seven-year history to ap­ proximately 1,000 baptized members: The Rev. Roger W. Schneider is serving as pastor of the parish and is assisted by Mrs. Berneice Spruth and Mrs. Virginia Karls as part-time parish workers. The very active church nabis. Bond set at $1,000, court date Sept. 28. program is coordinated by a church council and standing committees. The council members include Ervin Staveteig, chairman; Bernard Davidson, vice-president and worship committee co- chairman, Art Matthies, secretary and worship com­ mittee co-chairman; Robert Putnam, treasurer; Miriam Miller, Evangelism director; Midge Teuber and Harold Kivley, parish education directors; Robert Finkbeiner and Gene Honning, property committee chairmen; and Iver Johnson, stewardship advisor. The challenging program of the church has been expanded in areas such as youth, adult education, music, and fellowship opportunities. The immediate plans for the ex­ pansion of the physical facilities of the parish include an enlargement of the parking lot facilities for worshippers. A forward planning committee in the parish is currently meeting regularly to evaluate the needs for more classroom space and larger sanctuary facilities in the near future. The congregation is a member of the Illinois District of The American Lutheran Church. Richard Mikus, supervisor of music at Harrison school in Wonder Lake, with other musicians in the area, is in the process of organizing a com­ munity band. This is not limited to just Wonder Lake residents but to any musician in the surrounding areas of Wood­ stock, McHenry, Crystal Lake, etc. The band will be meeting twice a month on Monday evenings at Harrison school and is open to anyone who is interested in music and plays an instrument. This is a fine opportunity for area musicians to get together, learn some new music and have fellowship with friends. In­ terested persons should contact John Leighty in McHenry or Richard Mikus in Wonder Lake, or call Harrison school in Wonder Lane. Also, Mrs. Monda Brown, new vocal music teacher at Harrison school would like to start a community chorus. Anyone who sings (or thinks he can) and would be interested in being in this chorus, should call her at Harrison school, or contact Mr. Mikus for specifics. Here & There In BUSINESS Open Class In "Business Life Insurance" William E. Sunderlage, unit manager, North American Life Insurance company of Chicago has been selected to instruct a class this fall in the Life Un­ derwriters Training council's course in "Business Life In­ surance Sales Training." The announcement was made by James Longhway, Republic National Life Insurance agent of the Bryant-Longhway Agency of Crystal Lake. Longhway is responsible for organizing the McHenry county class. The course is designed to help career Life Underwriters keep abreast of the latest develop­ ments in Business Life In­ surance and to broaden their knowledge and skills. This course is Part II of a two-year program and classes will commence Oct. 26 at the American Legion post in Huntley. The classes are held weekly from October to May with each session paced to cover 2l/z hours. Longhway stated that ap­ plications will be accepted through Oct. 10. Those agents desiring to apply for enrollment are encouraged to contact him at his office in Crystal Lake, 459-3300.
