Coming Events SCENE FROM "MAME" - "I've heard about what happen after dark In New York to unmarried girls and innocent children", says a worried Agnes Gooch to young Patrick Dennis. Donna Mascari of McHenry, as Gooch, and Tom Tyska as Patrick are part of the dynamic Townsquare Players cast now in rehearsal for the fan tastic season opener, "Mame". This county-wide group features many local people, among them Ann Marie Johnson as Mame, and the excellent, although sometimes frustrated director, Barbara D. Miller. The show will be presented at the Woodstock Opera House on the weekends of Oct. 6, 7 and 8 and 13, 14 and 15. Friday and Saturday curtain time will be 8:30 and Sunday at 6:30. Oct. 8 is Senior Citizen Day, with a lower admission. Further information may be obtained by calling the Opera House at 338-4300. POETS CORNER A THOUGHT ABOUT ABORTION (by Maria Heiser) Darkness is laying now over this land thousands of murdered children... walking together hand in hand. They never had a chance to live... to see the sunlight and the sky... Now we ask them, to forgive... y We took their lives away... because for an unborn, unwanted child there is no place here, to stay. They come from all classes of the human race from the rich and the poor... we killed them, for they are for us, a disgrace. These children had no weapons to fight no voice to speak, no feet to run... their reason, for being was, to bring a light. A child is holding the gift of love right in his small and helpless hand... it brightens our lives, like the sun above. But man took the law of life into his hand now, we decide who lives and who dies... the cry of the unborn child, goes now through this land. We are against wars, no one should lose his life but we all become now murderers and kill the unborn child... The time is now, for us, to turn away from this road which leads to hell... we have to learn once again, to obey. Obey the law of God and human lives... and give back to the Unborn Child... his Right for LIFE... Women Of The Moose The last meeting of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1348, was held on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Enrollment was held for new member, Vicky De Stephanis, who was sponsored for membership by Marion Vornkahl. Balloting w^s also held. Following the meetting, refreshments were served by the publicity committee. The meeting of the auditing committee will be held on Oct. 5 at the McCormick residence at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting of the Women of the Moose will be held on Tuesday, Oct.3. A penny social will be the focal point of the evening which will be the kick-off for Christmas in Oc tober, the traditional time of gift giving to the children of Moose heart and the senior citizens of Moosehaven. This will be an open meeting to which friends and relations who are not Moose members may attend. Mrs. George "Haack, chair man of the Mooseheart Com mittee, has posted a list of suitable gifts on the lodge bulletin board, or gifts of money may be donated instead to the Christmas in October fund. Refreshments will be served following the meeting by the Mooseheart committee. At the last meeting the at tendance award was unclaimed by Ann Rodenkirch as she was not present, and the special award was received by Carole Humann. Much time is wasted by listening to others talk. * * * * The greatest force in chemistry is a prdtty girl.
