New Course Offered At MCC McHenry County college is offering a course in charac teristics of young children, which began Oct. 19 and con tinues for twelve weeks on Thursday evenings. The course is designed to help teachers and teacher-aides become more aware of the importance of the pre-school years The social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the pre-schooler will be included. A discussion-type class, this course would appeal to anyone working with pre school and early elementary age children. The course carries two semester hours of credit. It is held Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Woodstock high school (room 108). The Donald Gerstad Earns Promotion In Development The Robino-Lada company has announced the appointment of Donald Gerstad to the position of executive vice- president of its Ladd division, based in Chicago. In his new position, Gerstad will have complete charge of the division's development and homebuilding activities in Illinois, including a 300-acre project in Crystal Lake. Gerstad, who has been with the Ladd division for twelve years, resides in McHenry. ENROLLS IN COLLEGE Marian E. Nicolai, 4804 Bonner drive, McHenry, is among 163 freshmen enrolled at Aurora college for the fall term of the 1972-73 academic year. Marian is a 1972 graduate of McHenry Community high school. She has listed business as a major field of study. Miss Nicolai is among 700 students enrolled in day classes at Aurora. Another 264 are studying in the evening program. instructor is Ms. Mary Ellen Howard. Registration is now open. Those interested can register in class on Thursday, Oct. 26. The prism combina tion made it possible to reduce the size of binoculars without sacrificing magnification, thus enabling powerful binoculars to be hand held. 42. Modern binocular technolo gist have enlarged significantly on these developments. They have succeeded in making binoculars brighter and more powerful without adding size or weight. In Japan, for example computer designed lenses and prisms are made to extremely precise government-regulated standards to ensure sharp distortionless viewing.
