* Wonder Lake Macy Jean Huff 728-0267 Twos The Night Of The Concert At Harrison 'Twas the night of the concert at Harrison and all through the school, not a moment was left without music - the rule! The seats were all filled with parents anticipating, hoping the evening would end in a fleeting. The children were dressed all in their finest, girls in long dresses with faces their shiniest. And Mama was straining her neck just to see, this child she's produced, performing with glee. The walls of the building were decorated with care, pictures were hung by young artists who work there. Then what to my wondering eyes should appear but a band erf beginners with a song filled with cheer! With a little old maestro so lively and quick, but no beard - no red suit - could it be St. Rick? More rapid than eagles the beginners were done and the cadet band remained to have their fun. Now dash away, dash away, dash away for us. It's time to hear the Junior Varsity Chorus. Pablo the Reindeer, not Rudolph this time; had the audience charmed by its rhyme. I drew in my breath and was turning around, when out on the stage the Junior Varsity Band came with a bound. A bundle of songs they played just to please, "Little Christmas Suite" along with "Green- sleeves". In a twinkling Monda Brown appeared in a red velvet dress. Behind her came the varsity and boys' chorus. A twist of her head and a wink of her eye and right away sounds of "Silver Bells" reached the sky. The Concert Band waited patiently for all this, while visions of sleeping late the next morning filled them with bliss. At last came the moment to perform their feat. And the audience was in for a tremendous treat. "The Toy Shop" came to life with Jack Darby, Narrator. Applause from the listeners could have been no greater. Then some ageless musicians joined the Concert Band, teachers, alumni, even housewives were on hand. The finale filled all the room with its joy. While the Mass Band rang out, all the choruses, even the audience, sang of the birth of the Boy. "The Christmas Story" was read by Mel Miller just right and to the group Rich Mikus expressed with delight, "Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!" KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM The theme of the kin dergarten program at Harrison School on Wednesday, Dec. 20, was, "Some of Our Favorite Things". Despite the fact that it was a miserable evening weatherwise, with intense fog reducing traffic to a slow crawl, all the chairs set up for the expected families were soon taken and again as many set up so that the place was filled. Under the competent and loving direction of Mrs. Mavis Bagby, the kindergarten teachers, the young students began the program by singing "America the Beautiful". Next came some fun songs, often accompanied by some active, happy dancing. A play, "The Basket House", broke up the audience. Members of the cast were: Mouse - Debbie Buchheit, Rabbit - Tina Nelson, Bear-Jeff Schuster. "Santa's Workshop", a finger play followed and the bright eyed little group finished their performance with a series of Christmas songs. Mrs. Bagby presented each of her little ones with a homemade gift at the end of the program. The children then went to their classroom where they picked up presents each had made for his parents. Refreshments were served by the room representatives inthe cafeteria. The whole evening 'twas a slice of heaven! NEW SON Welcoming a son are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce C. Crum, 8808 Acorn Path, Wonder Lake.
