LITTLE LEAGUE OF THE LAKES Warriors Travel To _____ ' ^ w Woodstock Tonight PAGE 7-PLAINDEALER-Flrt^AY, JANUARY 26, 1973 By Dick Rabbitt The McHenry Warriofs take to the road tonight when they invade Woodstock to take on the Blue Streaks. Coach Ludwig's cagers, fresh from two wins the past weekend over North Chicago and Kaneland, are ready to go The Warriors and Streaks are currently tied with North Chicago for third place in the North Suburban conference. The Streaks have been an up and down team this season, but have started to jell in the past several weeks. Wilson and Hoerner have been the mainstays of the teams and. if the Warriors are to win. these two boys will have to be stopped. On the other hand the Warriors are in a hot streak. They have won 8 out of their last 10, and last weekend completely outclassed the defending champs, the Warhawks of North Chicago. Roger Ludwig and Mark Bentz have been the offensive guns for the Warriors. It should be a whale of a game. These two teams always go all out, and tonight's game will be no exception. Let's go to Woodstock and support our Warriors. CONFERENCE STANDINGS Tean W. L Barrington 5 1 Zion Benton 4 2 Libertyville ' 4 2 McHENRY 3 3 Woodstock North Chicago C. The other McHenry player is Tom Stark (34). Although the McHenry sophomores give up a height advantage to most teams, their hustling type of play bring them out on top of the final score in their share of games. UFO At Norge Ski Meet This Weekend If on Jan. 27 and 28 a strange object is seen gracefully soaring over the Norge ski jumping hill, chances are it is neither a bird, plane or for that matter superman. The most likely explanation is that it's John Deal out flying his kite again, or should we say the kite is flying John. Whatever it is, you can be sure of one thing, it's an awe inspiring thing to behold. An augment to an already fine sport show, John will descend the Norge underhill, become airborne, leisurely drift over the surrounding area and land some several hundred feet away. The kite John will use is more technically known as the "Rogallo Wing". It was developed and used by NASA. It might also be referred to as a paraglider used often by water skiers. Actually John is the prodigy of Jeff Jobe who has performed over most the ski areas in the west. Neither one thinks anything of taking off of a high mountain cliff and go soaring to heights of fifteen hundred feet or more. Complementing John's performance will be ski jum pers from all over the US and Europe competing for both the Central Division Championship on Sat., Jan., 27 and the In ternational meet on Sunday, Jan. 28. Plans are also being made to have a snowmobile hill climb up the one hundred and forty ft., underhill. They have done it on motorcycles, so, why not on snowmobiles. _ Activities on both days will start at l p.m. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased on Sat., Jan. 27 at the Norge ski grounds. These tickets are valid on either or both days. Children under 11 are admitted free. Norge is located five miles NW of Barrington, on Rts. 14 and 22 in the town of Fox River Grove. • - *•- *•••••••••••••< 2 23 sensational • I Sale Days \ Q • the most sled \ «••••••••••••« UIC Niwai MCU V the least bucks!
