Sammy Nestico, a very popular band composer, ^ wrote "A Portrait, of a Trumpet", and Guy Kammerer will be the featured soloist. The entire trombone 'section will be spotlighted on a novelty selection entitled "Slide Kicks" by Harry Simeone. Another interesting selection to be performed Thursday night is a work entitled "Concerto Grosso" by Ralph Mutchler. This work is a setting describing the contrast bet ween a jazz combo and a concert band. The jazz combo are all senior musicians in cluding Mike Hettermann, trumpet; Jim Blundell, trombone; Iris Seese, alto sax; Mike Smith, piano; Rick Kramer, drums and John Henderlong, bass. Other selections included on the program are "Grand Marshal" by Red Skelton, "Overture to Colas Breugnon" by Kabalevsky, "Festivo" by Vaclav Nelhybel, and a special work by Richard Maltby en- tit'ed "Threnody", which was written as an Elagiac tribute to the memory of John F. Ken nedy. The proceeds from the concert will benefit the scholarship fund. The public is invited to attend this annual West campus music depart ment concert, to be conducted by John Leighty. Slight Damage As OH Stove Explodes James Peterson sustained slight burns and there was some damage to his home at 502 W. Eastview, Lakemoor, as the result of a late evening fire last Thursday.
