Pamela F. Douglas of 1734 Maplewood lane, Glenview, and her three passengers, Mary Ellen Burns of Glenview, Carol L. Andrews of Cary and Raymond J. Bobek of 441 Porter, Crystal Lake, were taken to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. Driver of the other auto, Paul Zandlo of 5510 Fox Lake road, McHenry, was not injured but his passengers, Mary and Barry Bryan of the same ad dress, went to the hospital for checkups. Ms. Douglas stated she was south-bound on the highway when shecame over the crest of a hill and saw the Zandlo auto in the road with its lights off. She did not see the vehicle in time to avoid a collision. Zandlo told officers he was leaving a parking lot when his auto stopped in the roadway. Suddenly he noticed the other car approaching at a high rate of speed and was unable to get out of the way in time. He also said his lights were on at all times. Ms. Douglas was ticketed for no valid driver's license due to curfew violation and Zandlo was charged with blocking traffic on the roadway. A three-car accident Friday night at the intersection of Route 31 and John street resulted in injuries to two persons. Olive G. Freundof 3931 W. Mrs. Freund was east-bound on John, stopped for the sign, saw some cars approaching but thought she would have time to cross the highway. As she started up, the rear tires of her auto began to lose traction on the snowy surface and it was struck in the side. Justen was north-bound on the highway when the Freund auto pulled into his lane of traffic and they collided. After impact, Justen's car hit the front of the Vycital auto which was stopped on John street waiting to make a left turn onto the highway. Mrs. Freund was cited for failure to yield. Three persons were taken to McHenry hospital by the McHenry Rescue squad following a two-car accident Saturday night about 11:15 at the corner of Elm and Third street. Sue A. A ticket for improper turn at an intersection was issued to Raymond Schleicher of 7320 W. Northwood, Wonder Lake, after he hit another auto driven by Patricia Dusthimer of 7405 Parkwood, Wonder Lake. VanFleet was south-bound on Ringwood when he came upon an auto driven by Berni Laurice of 923 W. River Terrace, McHenry. As he started to pass the auto, it turned left in front of him. Laurice told police he had put his left turn signal in operation and had started the turn when his auto was hit in the rear by the other car. A two-vehicle accident Sunday morning about 11:15 at the intersection of Route 12 and Sherwood Forest drive, Spring Grove, resulted in a ticket being issued to Reinhold Hardt of 1401 Service street, East Gary, Ind., for improper passing on the left. Hardt was west-bound on the highway when he started to pass two slow moving vehicle in front of him. He failed to notice the left turn signals in operation on the first car which was driven by June Stillman of 3216 Sherwood Forest drive, Spring Grove. As Hardt pulled out to pass, he hit the side of the Stillman auto. Geraldine Wit? of 706 Nancy lane, Lilymoor, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident last Wednesday afternoon after she hit the rear of another auto driven by Edward E. Johnson of 4091 Barreville road, Crystal Lake. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 176 and Barreville road, south of McHenry. The Johnson auto was east- bound on the highway and had stopped to make a left turn when it was struck by the Witz auto. Ms. Witz said she saw the auto in front of her with its turn signals in operation. When she applied her brakes, the auto slid on the ice and struck the Johnson vehicle. State police said Borner was west bound on Rt. 134 at 9:48 a.m. and stopped at a red light. Vivian Shaw of Freeport, driving behind the Borner auto, struck the rear of his vehicle. There was an estimated $1,000 damage to the Borner car and $150 to the Shaw auto. COUNTY BOARD AIRS ASSESSMENT MUDDLE (Continued from page 1) combined sound system had been given as No. 4 priority. His recommendation was accepted and the board was eliminated from the expense list. A ready smile, a friendly personality and a concern for those with whom she came in contact made her a friend of everyone. We remember visiting her about three years ago. She was confined to a wheelchair, but the same spirit was evident as she told of her many activities, all of which would have com prised a full schedule for a younger, healthier person.
