Ways to improve the operations of the Small Business administration in northern Illinois will be' the prime topic of discussion at a meeting in Rockford Feb. 28. Details of the meeting, scheduled for 2 p.m. that day in the Faust hotel, were an nounced today by Robert A. Dwyer, midwestern regional director of the SBA, and Farnsley L. Peters, executive vice-president of the Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce. Dwyer and Peters said in vitations have been sent to banking leaders throughout six counties -- Winnebago, Stephenson, Boone, Jo Daviess, McHenry and Ogle. "The Small Business ad ministration has made significant strides within Illinois in recent years," Dwyer said. "But much more can be done by this federal agency to aid the citizens of our great state. "Accordingly, the "major purpose of this meeting and others like it which are being arranged throughout the state will not be to recite the ac complishments of SBA. "Rather it will be to obtain from leaders of Illinois' financial community counsel on how SBA might better serve them and the people of the state." Also participating in the Rockford meeting will be Bernard W. Jones, SBA loan officer. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. and will adjourn by 2:30 p.m. Dairy farmer represen tatives from all areas of Illinois will attend. The American Dairy association is the dairy far mers' organization, set up to build and hold a market for milk and milk products. It is "the dairy farmers' voice in the market place." The morning session will include reports from the of ficers of ADA. There will be seven official delegates from each of the eleven ADA districts attending the meeting. Each district has selected at a district meeting a nominee for the state board of directors. In addition, there will be twelve nominees for the board of directors selected by the various milk cooperatives and farm organizations. All of these nominees will be elected to the Board of Directors during the morning session. The ADA Dairy Princess, Joyce Moweryfrom Alexander- Pulaski coun.y, will serve as hostess. Advertising plans for the coming year will be reviewed. Following the annual meeting on Thursday, the newly elected directors will hold an organization meeting to elect their officers for the coming year. All ADA members and their wives and those persons in terested in the dairy industry are invited to attend. generous in loaning their equipment, the demand has been so great that many students attend first aid classes without benefit of practicing these two important procedures. Members of the McHenry area Jaycees are visiting all Jaycee chapters in the county, requesting funds for this program. To date, Jaycees from Hebron, Richmond- Burton, Algonquin, Crystal Lake and Cary have con tributed to the fund. The remaining chapters will be visited during the month of February. The Jaycees expect to complete the project late in February and will present the aid to Sheriff Tyrrell and Sgt. George Meyers, head of the Safety Education unit. An ounce of prevention, nowdays, is worth some 30 bucks. Sign-up forms and helpful assistance are all available at the McHenry County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office, ready for the farm program sign-up period which began Monday, Feb. 5 and will continue through March 16. So reports ASCS County Executive Director John Finch, who anticipates that approximately 1,500 farmers in McHenry county will sign up for par ticipation in the 1973 feed grain and wheat programs. "If sign-up is in line with previous years, approximately 75 percent of the eligible farms in the county will be signed up in one or more of these programs," he said. He pointed out that there has been some revising of program provisions since initial an nouncements were made, and he suggested that farmers should keep a close eye on mail and news announcements from the ASCS county office to be sure they are up-to-date on all programme tails. Once a producer is sure of his program choices, then it's a wise idea for him to come in and sign up at the ASCS office as soon as possible, Finch said. "It will save the farmer's time if he comes in early ~ before there is a line-up. Even a short line can mean a con- Roger C. Beck, district director of the Internal Revenue Service for Northern Illinois, has urged taxpayers to use the peel-off pre-addressed label supplied with their tax form package on the tax returns they mail to the IRS. The information on the label (the names and Social Security numbers and address) was taken from each taxpayer's previous tax return. "If changes or additions are necessary to the information on the label", Mr. Beck said, "use the label anyway and make your corrections right on the label". There is no special label for a 1040 and a 1040A. The same label applies to both forms. The adhesive on the back of the label does not need to be wet. siderable wait, since it sometimes takes half an hour or more to complete one sign up. The average time is about 15 minutes," Finch said. During the six-week sign-up period, the ASCS county office will maintain its regular hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for Monday, Feb. 19, when the office will be closed in ob servance of Washington's birthday, a federal holiday. The county office is located at 1143 North Seminary (Route 47) in Woodstock. Simply peel the label off the tax package and press it down in the space designated on your tax return. Beck cautioned taxpayers that their refunds would be mailed out according to the name, address and Social Security number the IRS receives from the taxpayer so that it is.in his own best interest that he use, and correct if necessary, his own label.
