LUXEMBOURG - There's this to say for International Air Bahama, a small airl ine flying from Nassau in the Bahamas to Luxembourg. If their fl ight is late, they take care of their guests in style. As mentioned last week, the writer recently flew from Miami (for $24) to take ad vantage of IAB roundtrip fares of $180 (22 days)or $250(two weeks). The flight was due to leave Nassau at 8:30 p.m. but very bad weather in Europe had de layed departure there and the aircraft to be used wasn't due into Nassau until 3 a.m. IAB gave every guest a dinner at the airport and, via taxi, transported them to the elegant BalrfToral Hotel on Cable Beach. There under the tropic night an island band played as the palms swayed in colored lights and moonlight and hotel guests enjoyed a fine buffet supper and danced. The flight de parted at 5:30 a.m. next day. And for those without rented cars, arrival in Luxembourg at eight p.m. was a compli cation. The writer had a rental car waiting and drove away before nine p.m. into Ger m a n y -- c u s t o m s o f f i c i a l s were most friendly, opening nothing. The roads from Luxem- . bourg are not bad but not the best, and this is impor tant information for any who follow this inexpensive route to Europe. But they quickly improve. Heading toward/ Germany, one takes- E-42 to Saarbrucken. I t 's a drive of an hour and here one reaches the autobahn. The dual way leads next to Ludwigshafen, about sixty miles, and then [ For And About Teenagers) in just a few minutes to the famous north-south autobahn between Heidleberg (to the south and Frankfort (to the north). One normally arrives via IAB in Luxembourg about 11 a.m. and could drive away by car at noon. Since on the normal fl ight one has been in an airline seat all night, a good idea is to spend the first night there or in nearby Germany, Belgium or France, all just a half hour away. The writer spent one night in Germany and next day re sumed the autobahn drive, through Stuttgart and Munich, to Salzburg in the Alpst reached by five next after noon. Ob viously, you just can't forget about boys, but on the other side of the coin, you are too young to be ac tively chasing them!
