(PLAINDEALER PHOTO) Frosh Cagers Win Fox Valley Tourney By Dick Rabbitt McHenry's Frosh basketball team ended a successful season on a happy note Thursday night by defeating Barrington 45 to 39. It was the third win of the season over the young Broncs. The Warriors qualified for the finals by defeating St. Charles and Wheaton Central. Barrington reached the finals by defeating West Chicago and Geneva. The Warriors, who led at the first quarter 12 to 6, were paced by Steve Koerber's 6 pts. In the second period Brian Lund dropped in 6 pts, but Barrington managed to knot the score at 24 all. The third quarter saw Barrington double teaming both Lund and Koerber when they got the ball. Terry Reilly took advantage of the sagging defense to drill home 5 of his 8 field goals. Tied 36-36 going into the final period the Frosh sparked by Don Rode's rebounding switched to a 1-3-1 zone defense that Barrington could not solve. Barrington did not score until the last 40 seconds and then they did so from the free throw line. McHenry's Freshmen "A" team finished the season with a 15 and 6 record and the "B" squad with an 8 and 5 record.
