(STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) EARL WALSH We planned to go to Bimbo's Wednesday night, but had no idea our White Sox would lose their home opener by the ridiculous score of 12 to 2. So we mustered up our courage and entered the Bimbo Cub Pub as planned. Junior was there and gave us a certain kind of a smile as we entered. Not too much was said, but ther^ was something in the air. Everybody who came in had something to say about our downtrodden Sox. Dick and Emily Hester came along. Athletic Director Bill Blankenhorn is busy rescheduling baseball games, tennis and track meets, along with golf. The baseball game with Larkin has been rescheduled for Monday af ternoon at 1 p.m. at McCracken field. The rest of the schedule is still pending upon the other schools involved. Tuesday the Warriors open North Suburban Conference play against Dundee. Dundee with a veteran squad returning plus a surplus of pitchers is one of the pre-season favorites for the championship. Zion Benton is another team with many returning let- termen. With their outstanding pitcher and outfielder Billy McKinney they should be in the fight for the crown. Again the Broncos from Barrington are loaded. A host of lettermen plus a junior team which won 21 games as sophomores, Barrington should be the team to beat. Libertyville with only 2 returning lettermen will have to improve to gain the first division. The Warriors, if they can find their hitting shoes and plug up some lapses in the field, could be another contender for the crown. Woodstock in their final season of conference play, should be an improved ball club from their 6th place finish last year. Both Crystal Lake and North Chicago again this season should fight it out for the cellar. 1972 NORTH SUBURBAN BASEBALL FINAL Team Won Lost Barrington 10 4 McHENRY 9 5 Libertyville 9 5 Dundee 7 7 Zion Benton 6 8 Woodstock 6 8 Crystal Lake 5 9 North Chicago 4 10 Mobile TWO TIME WINNER Randy Schiller, eight grader at Montini the presentation were, left to right: Montini Supt. Through his efforts, his teammates elected Randy as the M.V.P. for Montini's basketball team which finished the season with a 17-7 record, bringing home four second- place trophies to the school. The Harmony Snowmobile Club had there elections of officers for the 73-74 season. They are: President, Harry Padgitt, McHenry, Vice Pres. Eddy Kaska, Ingleside, Secy. Pat Butler, McHenry, Treas. Jan Rades, McHenry. Board Members: Gene Sickles, Aurora, Roy Roadman, McHenry, and Alby Adams, McHenry. Starting in May the meetings will be on a summer schedule. The first Friday of each month 'til November. The format of the newly formed McHenry County Snowmobile Assoc. reported by George Keller recently (Plaindealer Fri. March 30th) should be of great interest and help to all snowmobile clubs in McHenry County. The Assoc. aim being to promote safety, provide a united voice in future legislation in Illinois snowmobile laws, and in planning for coordinated club trails in the county. If you club would like further information Alby Adams, 385-0434. Members of the Harmony and Waukegan Snowmobile Clubs are now sitting back and reminiscing about their snowmobile adventures in West Yellowstone, Mt. and Park Rapids, Minn. The annual 10 day trip sponsored by the Harmony Club for their members who wish to explore exciting new snowmobiling areas. George Keller doing such an excellent job on reporting the West Yellowstone trip for our readers last week, I feel I could rush right back. Snowmobiling of that magnitude few of us will ever forget. Twenty members of Har mony packed their gear and drove to Park Rapids, Minn. Nancy McAuliffe informs me the club stayed in a beautiful four apt. bungalow., located at the Isle O'Dreams on a breath taking Peninsula with a view to behold. The snow, like in most places was half of normal. I hear they rode and rode 'til they wore out the snow along with themselves. Their hosts Duke & Marilyn put on such a good feast those 10 days that diets were in order when they returned. New officers for the coming season for the Illinois Assoc. of Snowmobile clubs are: President: Roy Roadman of McHenry, Vice Pres.: Charles Metcalf, Secy: Nayola Nelson, Treas.: Earl Nelson. The Illinois Assoc. accepts both Plum Tree, 3:30. May 11, Friday, District. May 14, Monday, S.C.C. at Village Green. I hope all our snowmobile readers have had a safe and good sonwmobile season. Remember: Join a club, get involved. It is the snowmobilers only way of letting others know that we have a safe and respected sport and to acquire the legislation we need in Springfield. Rule Conflict In County, School Board Memberships Attorney General William J. Scott has held that a member of a county board of supervisors cannot also be a member of a school board within the same county. Scott's opinion on that sub ject was requested by State's Attorney Dayton L. Thomas of Gallatin county. The Attorney General noted that the statutes which provide for local sharing of Illinois Income Tax revenues allow counties to allocate such funds for school purposes. , The opinion focused on the fact that "..if a member of the county board were also a member of the school board of a community unit school district, any part of which was located in the county, then he would be fn a position to vote funds for the' benefit of his particular school district. Although he would not be in a position to benefit himself personally, it is doubtful that he could properly and faithfully perform the duties of each office." Scott concluded, therefore, that the two offices are in compatible under the law. A boss is somebody who puts off till tomorrow what he should have had somebody doing today.
