Hintz) MY MOTHER I close my eyes and feel you near, Your gentle touch, your face so dear, Your smile so sweet, your eyes so true, That depth of love in the heart of you. My Mother! Your faith was strong; ^our thoughts so pure, Your laughter gay, your wisdom sure. 'Twas kindliness and inner grace That always shone upon your face. My Mother! ETHEL L HINTZ MEMORY'S GARDEN There are pixie pansy faces With enigmatic smiles, That kind thoughts of others bring to mind And wing across the miles. There is rosemary for remembrance Along the garden wall, And dainty, gold-frocked buttercups With stately tulips tall. Modest, sweet-scented mignonette And blue for-get-me-not, Roses, tokens of fond love Deck that garden plot. But dearest of all in that garden Is mother, with trowel and hoe, With love in her heart for the beautiful Helping God make her garden grow. ETHEL L. Our Mothers. OUR MOTHERS Who cared for us as infants small, Fed us and clothed us, took care of all Our wants and wishes, with loving hand Tried to fulfill our every demand? Our Mothers. Who guided our steps when we learned to walk*, Encouraged us when we tried to talk, Helped us over the rough spots each day, Taught us to kneel at our bedside and pray? Our Mothers. Who nursed us when with fevered brow, We fretted and whined, and it seemed somehow The world was against us, But we always knew There was someone to love us, and see us through? Our Mothers. Who loves us no matter what we do, Are always considerate, kind and true, Yearn o'er our faults; encourage the good, Help us to do the things that we should? Our Mothers. As we learn life's lessons day by day, May the things we do; the words we say. Show how grateful we are to the Father above, For blessing us with the unselfish love of Our Mothers. ETHEL L. HINTZ DAWN Early morning stillness Broods over my garden retreat. The rosebuds wearing pearls of dew Fill the air with fragrance sweet. The sun shows on the horizon Flaming rays of crimson and gold. The birds awaking with sprightly chirp Fill my heart with rapture untold. God walks in my garden. In the quiet I hear His voice. He starts my day with His blessing. And makes my soul rejoice. Ethel L. Hintz IT'S SPRING The golden daffodils are dancing Along the garden walk. The stately tulips nod their heads In rhythm as they talk. The lilacs rustle in the breeze, Their plumy fronds swaying The green is showing in the trees. Soon we'll go "A-Maying." Ethel L.
